Fitbit Update: 9/30

Hi everyone,

We're aware of an issue where your time asleep is being miscalculated.

You might have noticed your sleep duration has increased and time awake/restless are being included in the time asleep calculation. In addition, some of you might have seen sleep duration had increased, but now it has changed back to the previous calculation.

As mentioned, we're aware of all these sleep miscalculations and are working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your patience. Once we have identified a fix or resolution, we will update these threads.

I just checked my sleep duration on the fitbit app (I've been making a big effort to get more sleep this week, so I've been paying close attention to it). The sleep times have all increased by around 20 to 30 minutes... for example, for Monday night it originally said I'd slept for 7 hours 15 minutes. It now says 7 hours 37 minutes. For Tuesday night it originally also said 7 hours 15 minutes, but now says 7 hours 46 minutes.

Does anyone know what's going on here?

I'd like an answer to this too.  The "sleep time" displayed is suddenly just the time from start to finish of my sleep interval; it's no longer subtracting out the time restless/awake.

I’d like help with this, too. I’ve been tracking my sleep since I got the Fitbit years ago. I’m finally improving my sleep but now the times are all wrong. It’s no longer subtracting my restless and awake time. I was restless or awake for over 2 hrs last night. But now it shows that time as asleep.

Me, too! In some cases it looks like well over an hour has been added. I track every day for health and other reasons, and now the charts i created based on Fitbit don’t match Fitbit!

This reminds me of when Fitbit was showing my current weight not as my current weight, but some number that had never been logged. It stopped, but it was maddening at the time.

I begin to feel I can’t trust a device that actively undermines my tracking. Please fix this, Fitbit!

This morning when my tracker synched, 2 hours had been added to every sleep log. So yesterdays sleep we yesterday read 6 hours 25 mins (which was correct) now reads 8 hours 25 mins and this goes back right through the previous months logs . Any ideas?

Ive got the same problem

Best Answer

Same & it’s maddening especially when it says “congratulations you’ve met your sleep goal” but then also shows over 3 hours of awake/restlessness that haven’t been factored in.

Also, all weekly sleep averages are set at 0.  Changed since 2nd last update.  All the way back to beginning of tracking.  Steps are still ok though.

Best Answer

Yes mine all been set to 0 too. Ive not used this forum before.  Do we just hope fitbit read the issues and resolve?

Has anyone else had problem with sleep logged?  My sleep has dramatically increased and all previous sleep logged has also suddenly increased.

New here too.  It's my hope that this forum is monitored so they will fix it

I am having the same issue.  I noticed it late yesterday afternoon.  I truly hope this is a bug and not acting as designed!!

I look at my sleep score every morning and I remember that it has been a long time since I met my target of 8 hrs. Today all my previous sleep data has changed and almost all of them are beyond my target goal. Looking inside, I found that the awake time reduced to nearly 15 minutes or less. I always have awake time around 40 minutes. I found similar article that their steps data changed and was fixed by restarting the phone. Tried it but the issue is same.

How do I get accurate sleep data?

Same happened to me this morning. And what's even stranger is that the Hours Slept dashboard and Hours in Sleep Stages still reflect the correct hours. It looks like Wake Hours is where the bulk of the issue is for me.

Same thing happened to me and my sister's family. Super Annoying! Now supposedly I am getting all kinda of great sleep when before I would just barely meet my 7 hour goal.

I noticed that too. So instead of being awake as much they say you are a sleep. I happen to know that it is not correct for me.

Yes.  Checking all the boards.  All my sleep records have changed to basically time in bed which does not help me at all.  I compare my amount of sleep on the sensitive setting.  It is a bit too sensitive, but the other setting is too generous.  So I use my prior records as a baseline for each night.  I hope they fix this soon!

I too am having the same issue. My sleep notice says over 8 hours for several weeks back which is

totally incorrect. Also the steps was way short of the actual steps taken.

same here. Per fitbit, over the last year, my awake time is between 35-55 minutes per night. Now it's showing impossible numbers like 4 minutes, 9 minutes, even the OLD data is changed!! Called tech support they say it wasn't changed, I say BS to that. I'm looking at an Apple watch anyway. I've loved this fitbit but since they've gone to the sleep score and now this, its ruined and useless for me.
