Today's app goals keep "blinking" once met

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

About 2 days ago, once I reached a goal - steps, calories, stairs, etc. - the app will show that i met the goal by turning a solid blue, and then 30 seconds later it "updates" and shows I met the goal again.  Basically blinking back and forth between met and unmet every 30 seconds.  Super annoying!

@Georgiae same thing I'm experiencing.   It's very annoying.

@MarreFitbit @RicardoFitbit @LizzyFitbit please advise why this is occurring.

There have been additional posts in the forum regarding this issue.

Any solutions as to how to stop this?  Anyone?

That blinking started after updating to version 3.5. The blinking is very wild when moving around and tracking is on. It repaints the circles after each step.

My solution to stop this very annoying bug displaying was to downgrade back to version 3.31.

I have a two tracker configuration with both Charge 2 and Versa added to the app.

Here is a video showing my experience.

@Timppe , how did you downgrade to the 3.31 version and are you syncing ok?

@AlessFitbit there have been several different post regarding this issue with the 3.5 version for android.  Is there a fix for this issue?  @Timppe provided an excellent video showing what the mobile app is doing.

SUPER annoying.  Came to teach support just for this.

Yes, instant migraine. Hope not too many people out there have certain types of visual sensitivity.

Thank you for continuing to push for a resolution.  I love my FitBit and have been a long time user.  I've put up with what I've seen as completely unnecessary changes to the FitBit app interface, but this one, if not fixed, will make me switch to something else.  I swear it is the most annoying thing ever, and such a stupid, small thing to fix!!

After all the text notification issues and trying to fix those I noticed the same thing on my app version 3.5 on Android 8 today.  Very annoying to say the least.

@Georgiae you're welcome and I totally agree with everything you said. Hopefully,  one of the moderators will respond.  🤷‍:female_sign:

I was thinking of upgrading to the Versa 2 but I'm seeing post of issues already with that as well so it will probably be a no for me at this time.

I guess we are not going to get a respond from any of the moderators regarding this issue.

Ignoring your users about the various ongoing issues with all of the various updates (to try to fix something in each version that you broke and making it worse) isn't going to win you customer loyalty and retention.  This fiasco has done the complete opposite.....you have lost a lot of users to your competitors, recommendations for the Fitbit brand will be minimal, the users that haven't left yet are definitely exploring other options, users are upset at the lack of customer support, the lack of honesty and accountability by Fitbit regarding these updates, as well as having a smart watch that a) dies b) doesn't sync properly or not at all c) poor quality for the price d) little to no Quality Control on a product that wasn't QC'd.

Is anyone looking into solving this issue....bug in the application?

Hi everyone. Thanks for participating in this thread, and I apologize for the delay in my response.

I appreciate your efforts while working on this situation, and I understand where are you coming from as this shouldn't be happening with the Fitbit app. Our team relies on the feedback posted in the Community to work on our products and improve their performance. Your comments will not go unnoticed, and I'll be here to help you out with this behavior. Just to confirm, do you remember if this started to happen after updating your phone's OS or the Fitbit app? Besides your activity goals, have you noticed the same behavior with the other tiles?

If you've not done so, I'd recommend to do the following:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure the Fitbit app updated to the latest version.
  3. On your phone's settings, tap on Apps > Fitbit > Storage > Clear Cache.
  4. Go back to the previous screen, tap on force stop and reboot your phone.
  5. Open the Fitbit app and log back in to your account.

@SunsetRunner, thank you also for the heads up about this situation. @Timppe, thanks for the detailed video about the Fitbit app's behavior.

Please give it a try and if the same keeps happening, please provide me with your phone's model so I can further investigate.

Keep me posted.

@LizzyFitbit

For me this behavior started happening after the 3.5 update.  Then we had the system maintenance issue on 9/6/19 which kicked me out of the mobile app and wouldn't let me log back in for 4 hours until the Fitbit engineers were able to fix the issue.  After that the mobile app went very quirky and the goal rings issue came into play as well as the random freezing of the Fitbit logo page on the mobile app.  The other tiles seem to be working ok for me....it's definitely the goal rings that have this behavior.

For the steps that you noted in your response, I have done this several times.....sometimes more than once a day for the app to sync and act correctly.  I've never had so many syncing issues or the mobile app not responding with my Fitbits as I do now....this is getting old. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

I am on a Samsung Galaxy 7 Android Operating System 8.0 and my phone has been updated to the latest software applied on July 20, 2019.

@LizzyFitbit

I just tried to upgrade again to 3.5. The wild blinking restarted at once. Then I downgraded back to 3.3.1 and that version works okay. Thus, version 3.5 is buggy and you should get it fixed ASAP.

My Oneplus 5 phone runs Android 9 and has not been updated recently.

@LizzyFitbit  - Just checking to see if if there is a resolution in sight for this issue.

Doing the steps you noted in your response does nothing.  Still have the blinking going on.

Definitely an issue with this updated version.

Please advise.

I already tried all the suggestions you made before posting on this help site.  However, last night I installed an update to my Ionic and the blinking has stopped for now.

@Georgiae Which update did you install?  Was it the 3.5?

I redid the steps last night and installed the 3.5 update once again this morning and the blinking on the goals that have been met is still occuring expecially when it's refreshing to sync.

@LizzyFitbit

Please advise if there is a fix for this issue as of yet.

  • It was a very lengthy update to my Ionic, not the app.  It took over an hour to install, but for now the blinking has stopped. The version on my Ionic is 27.68.9.12.
