I am unable to search or scan food items to log them in my fitbit app. I have already force stopped the app and restarted with no resolve. Foods in my recent and frequent lists appear but I'm unable to search for anything new.

Oh great, so we need an app update to fix it? 🙄 I reverted to an old (earlier 2025 version) as the last few were getting worse and worse. I'll hold off updating until there's no way out of it/I'm completely unable to use it. It's always been like this in the ten years I've been using FB. Only escalating the past year.
I love that they are lying about this because they are being lazy. If an app update is required to fix it, then an app update would have been required to break it. There was no app update yesterday. This is 100% a server issue.
I'm having the exact same issue. First, I couldn't scan anything. It said "Network system down for maintenance". I tried all the same steps many of you did with no resolve. Now, the barcode scanner is gone and I can't create a custom food. Very frustrating.

Wrong answer. Don't believe the answer. 2nd day of not being able to search for anything in the database.
---
I converted to Google months ago and I'm having the issue.
I agree with the timing of the outage - was good up until logging dinner on 11/6/25. I was not happy to have to manually log all my food.

Likely a database capacity issue caused by the public preview of AI assistant within the app. They probably need to update the app to partition food entry from AI preview.
The question is if they will fix it, or stop supporting food entry. They already removed barcode scanning in the food portion of the app.
---
They broke it with a server side update. They could revert to past version and fix it, but then AI preview would stop working. So they are going to fix it with a client side update, which is probably faster than doing another server side fix.
Than you!
Best AnswerWithout the food logging ability, this device is hardly more than a glorified pedometer. I already have that built into my phone for free.
I sincerely wish I hadn't wasted my money on this device. Lesson learned. I won't continue with Fitbit once this one dies.
I should've continued just using the free version of MyFitnessPal and been happy with life.
Still having same issue. Nothing fixed on my end as of yet.
