Two weeks ago I got my Fitbit Versa, before that I owned a Charge 2. I love the Versa, however I just got a warning that I am close to the limit of my mobile data. Clearly the fitbit app is the problem. It used over 1.1 GB in the background and a tiny bit in the foreground. I never had that problem with the charge 2, in fact, there is almost no background data usage in the first few days of the month when I still had the charge 2 in the Android settings graph. From the day I started using the Versa, the data usage is pretty constant.
When I search the internet I saw a lot of topics on this from 2018. The problem still seems to be there with about 2.5 GB usage in the background per month. My fitbit app version is 2.95. I just turned off continous synchronization and always connected. Will this solve the data use issue and retain the functions more of less?

I don't know @jorritvandommel. I just went to phone settings, apps, Fitbit and since April 14. Fitbit has used 621.46 mb on my android phone.

This is my data usage. I own the Versa since June 4th, where the rise in background data (achtergrond data in Dutch) can be clearly seen. It is annoying, since I have a 2GB data plan and normally I do use some 500mb to 1GB at most.

What apps have you loaded onto the Versa? Do you listen to music through the versa?

I haven't listened to music via the versa yet. The only app I installed is the Phillips Hue app. I can remove it again, since the connection is not very reliable anyway. Furthermore I tried some different clock faces, but returned to the original. And finally I use fitbit pay, but I assume that shouldn't use any data.

Music may use a very little data while setting up, but all transfer of songs will be through your homes WiFi.
Fitbit pay is between the watch and the card reader, no data used here.
The Hue app will need to talk to the phone and from there I'm not sure how it works. If you can control the lights while away from the house, it probably used a little data could be WiFi or cell data.
