Why doesnt monday start to zero?

Ok, so, today is Monday and last night when I synced my phone before midnight  (Sunday) mine said 105 000 steps this morning on a Monday when it should be zero it said 85 000 ??all my other friends in the challenge scores  have also changed ??I don't get it please explain this is doing my head in! Why doesn't it go back to zero on a Monday?

Are we talking about the step total on the friends list?

 

If so this never resets to zero. It shows the steps taken so far today plus the steps for the previous 6 days. At midnight each night it removes the oldest days's steps so it always goes down at midnight but never to zero.

Thank you for your reply and for simplifying things I totally get it now
that the oldest they will be removed so like Sunday last Mondays will be
removed and tomorrow which is Tuesday last Tuesday's will be removed so it
all makes sense now why my numbers didn't seem to add up thank you
