gps data dissapeared

today i went for a 3 hour hike.. started the tracking in the app. stopped it after 3 hours, even saw the map and the log. then i synced with the charge 2, and the map, gps data was gone!!

how is this possible?! 3 hours i was walking and no **ahem**ing gps data!!!?

confidence in fitbit, yeah, dont think so.. this is a problem, a tracker is meant to give a push to get out there, train! this just sucks.. what now? am i supposed to have another gps e

with me to get the gps data?

 

and another thing, somebody in here told me to use RUN when i hike because the gps is more accurate. well what about the calories then? they cant be accurate when i hike?!

 So you say it downgrade is not recommended.

 

But as long as I am concerned, downgrade is the best method. 

 

I have auto updated Fitbit app before. And that "latest version" had got me lost precious hiking data, not once, but twice!

 

How can I trust new version anymore, if you guys did not fix the problems?

 

The "old" version, also developed by you guys, works perfectly for me. So what means by "other functions and glitch fixes may start failing or appearing at the moment to sync your tracker or perform other activities with the app."?

 

As long as I do not update my tracker software, what worse glitch will appear rather than that GPS data missing issue?

That means, the problem is still there, and we have no idea when it will work and when it will not. 

 

GPS data is very important for us. In fact, it's the most important for many users for using the app. It tracks our route, elevations and many other useful data.

 

And when I asked your Customer Service colleagues, they said there is NO SOLUTION to retrieve lost data!

 

I was so disappointed. And I don't want my GPS data lost anymore.

Hello @Douglas_Chan, I'm sorry I haven't post anything lately. Indeed, I understand the GPS is important. To clarify your concerns note that by downgrading the app with unknowns APK files, we cannot guarantee the behavior of the app since this sources are not official. This is the reason I mentioned before it may fail with other features, but due to the source of the app is being downloaded.

 

About the workaround of not pausing is a measurement to minimize the glitch while we work and investigate and our product team roll a fix in the future. Of course we cannot predict when this issue is gonna happen and I know this is a inconvenience for our users. Nonetheless we are working to fix this and we appreciate all the patience during this process.

Was advised to turn off data when not in use. However have not done that today.  Will leave on and see if that's the fix.  Also my step total is zero among my friends on app when over 300k on website.  How to fix that?

Hi there,

Is there a fix for this as yet? I've been having this happen and would prefer not to turn off auto recognise if I can help it.
