text messages

I hv a samsung galaxy III and Alta tracker. My contacts come across with name of caller but when I receive a text, I just get "new message" notification. I hv reset the Bluetooth, all notification options, and made sure the option of sender and message is selected. Can anyone help me figure out how to read my messages on my alta?

Which Android version are you using?

I'm on 5.01 and only see that I have a message, but not the message itself.

Oh maybe thats the problem. Im hv 4.4 version. Old phone and old version I guess. I just read in the set up that I cld receive messages and caller name.

@martinj3 could be our phones are older, but I still love mine.

I do get call notifications and the names I have on my contact list show on my Blaze.

For texts, it vibrates and tells me I received a message, but I can't see anything.
