Aria 2 BMI readings are wrong

I have a fitbit Aria 2 and the BMI is quite off.  My Aria 2 shows my BMI at 34-34.4%, but if I put my weight and height in a BMI calculator it shows as 26.5%

The scale is on a hard flat surface and I weigh myself bare footed.

I've tried adjusting my profile gender, saving, then setting back and saving along with removing the batteries and weighing myself 5 times in a row as shown in another thread, but it still shows the same BMI.

I read that the Aria 2 uses bioelectrical impedance to calculate the BMI.  Could sodium impact that?  I keep myself on a low sodium diet vs the average person per my Dr of 10,000mg of sodium.

First, let's make sure what you are talking about.  You say BMI (body mass index), but it sounds like you are talking about fat %.  These are often confused but are totally different things.

BMI is a simple calculation from height and weight and is not a percent.  Body fat % is the makeup of your weight.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

You're totally correct.  I've been misreading what that number is all along.  Thanks for your help.
