Hi - I just bought the Aria 2 scale, but when reading the user guide, saw that it mentions not using the scale if you have implants. Does this include joint replacements or spinal fusion rods? I have three joint replacements and a spinal rod - all titanium. Can I use the scale safely?

@NewbieUser58 It's great to see you in our Fitbit Community! Regarding your inquiry, since the Aria 2 uses bio-impedance in order to measure your weight and body fat percentage, this is the reason why we don't recommend stepping on it if you have implants, including titanium.
My best advice is to contact your doctor and ask him/her if you can use the scale since it uses bio-impedance.
Let me know if you have any doubts!

I have titanium plates & screws on my spine after vertebrae reconstructive surgery, and they have never caused a problem. The original plates were stainless steel, and they caused problems with metal detectors at stores & airports, but 3 years ago those were removed and replaced with new titanium plates and I have not had a problem since.

@NewbieUser58 You metal hardware will conduct the low level current different from fat, muscle, water, and bone. Metals are conductors, not resistors. While you might get a percent body fat number that is consistent from day to day, it will NOT be accurate.
