@Miazebra, you enter all of your data in the Dashboard Profile - sex, age, height, etc.  That is used throughout the system for calculations.

@Miazebra Thanks for participating in our Fitbit Community! I would like to follow up and would like to know if the information that provided my friend @USAF-Larry helped you to get BMI readings from your Aria scale.

Looking forward to your response my friend! Smiley Happy

I can’t get my BMI either and I have already checked my settings on for those things. I hope someone here has the answer.

I just did it on my Android device.  You need to go to the Tracker Settings in the App.  Select "Aria 2", then "Users". Tap on your profile and it will give you a series of options, including the ability to show your BMI.

What OS do you guys have?

Haven't seen an answer to your question but my guess is that the scale finds this information in your profile.  My concern is with the calculation.  I am 6' 1.5" and currently 193 and if I add my measurement and see what number should come up the fat percentage should be a bit over 20% but the scale is indicating 17.1%.  BMI is 25.1

I run daily but eat well.  This time of year I gain a bit and right now I feel I am about 10 lbs over my ideal weight.

In contrast, my wife did the same calculation and was about 25% yet the scale shows her at 38%.  So why is my number low and her number is high?  I guess she found many complaints about this online but it seems like an easy thing to fix with the proper programming.

This article may shed some light on how Fitbit automatically detects your BMI.

I followed the instructions in the "How to Change Height in Fitbit" video, and found out that my Personal page shows my height to be 2'3", but when I tap on that line to change it, it shows my correct height.  Do you know if this will affect my BMI calculation?

Hello @PilSung25 and a warm welcome.  BMI is a simple calculation using height and weight.  By the CDC standards, a normal BMI is 18.8 - 24.9 is normal, 25 - 29.9 is overweight and so on.  If your scale is using the wrong height, then you might get a number around 200.  If you are seeing a typical number, then your scale is using the correct height.

Are you an Android, iOS or Windows user?  Which version of the app do you have?  Sounds like an issue for the engineers.

How do you get that to toggle on the scale itself? And, in the Fitbit app when I go under my name for users it says nothing about being able to toggle on/off BMI is body fat %

As I understand it, you don't enter BMI. FitBit calculates this number from your height and weight. If you want to change the BMI, then you need to adjust the height.

No I understand that that the app is where the information is to calculate. But, on the physical scale it doesn’t highlight but, shows that there is a BMI and percentage space. How do I toggle that on the physical scale? Also, when I go to my profile and click on users to find myself. I cannot find any of the tabs under my name that can show BMI/ fat %.

Thanks for trying to understand and help me out!

Right there is no BMI setting. My scale shows BMI and I modified my height to get the number to display something closer to what it should be. Sounds like there is something else going on with your profile and you might need to call FitBit.

Does that show up on the scale itself though? That’s one of my two questions

Yes, I found this which talks about using the scale. I have played with the lean setting and have turned it on and off to see what is the best setting for me. Since I run daily and have a stable weight I thought lean was better:

When you weigh yourself with bare feet, Aria 2 estimates body fat percentage using bio-impedance analysis to estimate your body's composition. For a given BMI, decreasing body fat percentage means reduced fat and increased muscle mass. Very lean and athletic individuals should select lean mode to get more accurate body fat percentage estimations.
