Blaze Exercise mode

While running, and with the Blaze synced in Exercise mode, the device has suddenly and automatically stopped the run after 5 miles.  I am still 5 miles from finishing.  Then it restarts for a few seconds and stops again.  The step count and distance is captured; however, the run time and mile splits are lost.  I believe this is a defective device because it worked normally for several months before this started; yet, I figured I would add it to the forum as well.

If it was working normal and is not now then you need to contact support

You should try a restart  and see if it helps first

Welcome to the Community @SunsetRunner and @WendyB thanks for stopping by.

As recommended by our friend here, please try to restart your Blaze. After the restart process, test your tracker and if you keep having problems with it, feel free to get in touch with our support team. For a faster response you can contact them via phone or chat.

I have restarted the device, to include just before the latest run when the tracking failed.  I contacted tech support and was told that my long sleeved shirt is the cause.  I find it strange to hear that a shirt would stop the tracking in the middle of a run.  This time of the year, outdoor activities require users to wear protective clothing from the elements, and that protective clothing is the cause of device failures - really odd.  It does not explain why the tracking stopped half way through the run, so I have to think that a sweat covered sleeve is a bit heavier and causing the device to think that finger pressure has been applied to the glass.  And due to the fact that I need the heart rate tracking to function through the duration of the run, it is not logical to place the tracker over the sleeve, as this will prevent accurate readings.  So if the statement of a long sleeved shirt casuing this problem is correct, then this would be a definite design flaw that needs to be rectified.  Marathon training is a year round event, in all types of weather conditions, and the running attire should not be capable of disabling the functions of the watch/tracker.  This answer is a bit weird, but it is what I was told.  Now I have to find a way to protect my body from the elements while still allowing the device to function throughout a long run.

@SunsetRunner when you say the step count and distance is fine, are you looking at one instance recorded for the run in your history?  You say it stops amd starts ,  is it pausing, amd unpausing.

If your using the connected GPS, do you get a map of the run.

I noticed others have said that yheir Blaze pauses, there is a required, actually 3, for a touchscreen lock. You might want to add your vote.

Rich, at the 5 mile mark and while tracking using the phone guided GPS, the tracker just stops tracking; as if I pushed the pause then finish buttons.  It is doing this without my knowledge.  When I review the run once returning home, I find that I have had 5 runs during the past hour (for example: 4.99 miles, 0.8 miles, 0.5 miles, 0.4 miles, 0.1 miles) and this was a 9 mile run.  This is what was presented to me at the end of nine (9) miles.  The GPS maps are a total and complete mess after the 4.99 mile mark.  I apparently leaped over a creek, flew over two fences, and bounded to the finish line like a bird without completing the 9 mile distance.  It's like magic.  Heart rate, distance, and times are all missing.  However, the standard step counting and total daily distance was still there.  I hope this makes some sort of sense.  If, in fact, the long sleeved shirt is the problem, as stated by tech support; a screen lock would possibly fix it as long as it did not interfere with my ability to pause the tracker during a run due to things like traffic, or me just wanting a bit of a rest.

Your Long Sleeves could very well stop the Unit.

It could push into the button and stop it. I have had it happen before when I was wearing a coat. I just=make sure that the sleeves or what ever Im wearing are far from the unit so it does not happen

Wear the device up a bit higher if need be

I have also had this problem with my Blaze.  I suspected my long sleeves and you have confirmed that.  It was super annoying today.  I did a 7 mile run and it stopped twice and then paused itself several times.  Seemed to be ok when I pushed up my sleeves.  However, running in the winter, I am in long sleeves quite often, so I wish there was a fix for this beside pushing the sleeves up higher.
