Blaze Firmware Update - 17.8.200.3 [Closed]

Update 5/6/16:

Hey all,

I've been keeping a close eye on this thread, and I wanted to give a quick update.

For reports of Blaze steps and/or distance being inaccurate, I think this is definitely something worth looking into. I've passed on all the feedback to our team so they can investigate. As a friendly reminder, remember that accuracy depends on many factors.

Here's a couple things being worked on:

For 'Auto' setting being too dim, you can switch to 'Normal' as a workaround in the meantime. Please note switching to 'Normal' will have a slight impact on battery life.

I'll provide updates when I can. Thanks everyone. 🙂

Update 4/27/16:

The firmware update should now be available to everyone. Update your Blaze and let me know how it goes! You can read the release notes for version 17.8.200.3 in the lead post or check them out on our help site. 🙂

Update 4/23/16:

Sorry for the wait, here's the release notes!

"The Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages are now available on Blaze. Note that Blaze is only available for pre-order from fitbit.com in China, Japan, and Korea.

This release also resolves a couple issues:

  • Some customers were unable to resume a paused FitStar workout.
  • Some customers reported problems with the Blaze screen (display)."

You can find these release notes for this update (17.8.200.3) on our help site.

4/21/16:

Hey everybody,

Some of you may have noticed there's a new firmware update for Blaze! We just started pushing this update out yesterday, and just like any other update, we'll be rolling it out in waves. This update focuses on a few bug fixes. Release notes will be posted here soon.

Thanks!

Bah !! allez voir Garmin alors...

I laugh because in fact, everyone in trouble with this model, and Fitbit has nothing to **ahem** !!
I even I have: in too floors, faux km of numbers, elliptical, faux rug, mistakes, errors and mistakes .. Fitbit contacted me via Facebook, from 15 days no news !! supposedly they were on the problems and find a solution .. same with their after-sales service ...
In that **ahem** since a firmware update, I am very disappointed and in fact I'm going to swing this electronic Coath because it is useless, Fitbit not manage this problem, has not taken us seriously just losing customers, I indeed dissuade the people around me, either privately or in gymnasiums take a coatch this brand !!
I advise them is a concurante brand as Garmin in which btw I just ordered a template.
Fitbit is a low-end brand who lies to people and more: There is no electronic waterproof coatch they say !!
Bah !! Garmin will see then ...

With the bugs this firmware version caused and no indication that a fix is coming, I'm curious why FitBit hasn't just rolled back to the previous version until they can find out what they did wrong to break the Blaze.

Retailers now know the Blaze isn't reliable. In the past week I was in a Best Buy and a sporting goods store, and in the sections where the fitness trackers are, the Blazes were removed from the shelves. In both cases there was a sign indicating due to technical issues with the Blaze, it is no longer being sold. And to see a store associate for more details.

For me this version is the most stable formware I've had in a tracker sonce the Fitbit One.

I guess this firmware version is pretty stable at helping the Blaze to tell the time. Now if it could be stable at helping the Blaze count steps, calculate miles, track sleep and read heart rate it would be great.

The only issue I have with the app is its inability to stay connected and display real time starts while the Blaze is in exercise mode. But I'm not really sure if that's an app issue or a tracker issue.

FINI FITBIT !!

I brought it to my dealer BLAZE who picked me uncontested: in fact the problem is known that many plant blaze and is unreliable. it made me have one so I can buy another coatch Electronic. My choice goes to the Garmin.

2 days of test: No comparison !! garmin works great !! very reliable !! I'm glad it changes !!

Fitbit FINISHED !!!

Was the issue with the MI4 a problem before the.Blaze was updated?

It is possible that it could sync to the phone after connecting it back to your account through a computer.  On the app all that is needed is to log into the app.

After the update the other day the app is being nuts. I have an LGG3. For example- my step count on my blaze reads 40,196 (yes I have walked a lot today) but the app on my phone shows my step count as 34,703. The computer app shows 40,196 and when I click through on the phone it also shows the 40,196, it's just the main screen that shows it short. The active minutes, km, calories, floor etc are all showing incorrectly on the main screen. It almost caused a domestic today too. Went for a huge walk with my husband, his blaze shows he walked 5km more than I did, even though we were walking side by side. I was furious. I stormed off and left him, if he walked 5km more then obviously he must have been home about 40 mins before me.

I'd honestly hold off until the next update to try and update your Blaze. This update has seemed to cause issues. If I could roll back to the previous update, I would.

What version is everyone running of the blaze and iOS?

I agree the Blaze has trouble being accurate indoor on a tredmill, Elliptical or outside walking via GPS. I feel it's making me worker harder than necessary to reach my daily goals. When using GPS on the phone it gives a very accruate step count using my step calculation to the actual distance. Then when it syncs with my Blaze it can show up to 3000 step lower than the GPS counted.

I walked 6 miles and my step calculation is 27 inches 6 mles in inches is 380,160. x27 = 14080 which is less than 30 steps from what the Phone calcuated. Sounds really good. Then the phone synces up with the blaze and I'm out 3000 steps. How the heck does the blaze take 3000 steps away? 14109 + the steps I had before starting 1267 = 15376 not the 12,282 the blaze counted.

What is going on how could this be so wrong!

On a treadmill and Elliptical it seems to be even worse

FYI - this is my third fitbit model and I have my profile down pretty close to as accurate as possible. So please don't start with your weight or step calcuation isn't corret. GPS tells me it's very accurate.  I'm going to try to put this in my pocket as others have suggested but seems FITBIT needs to work on improvement of this model .

The suge and flex were more accurate!!!

The reason why I purchased this one is how you highly you said this was so much better.

The heart rate monitor isn't accurate either as I wear a Polar Strap which is very accruate and the flex doesn't come colse to matching the accracy of a Polar!!!

What is going on and when are you going to make imrovements to this model or have a recall on it.

For me my steps seem fine, it's my mileage that's way off. This is my third Fitbit, I had a flex and a Surge. Love the Surge it's just too bulky on my wrist that's why I got the blaze. However, I usually average about 4.5 miles for every 10,000 steps. I've had to trick my stride by adding inches and thus "cheat" the watch into giving me my proper mileage.

Sent from my iPhone.

how about an update as to why the Blaze doesn't track my mileage correctly? Normally with all my other Fitbit models it takes me around 10,000 steps to get 4.5 miles. I adjust my stride and walk a mile loop to test this. It was fine with my Flex and my Surge. I've upgraded or downgraded to the Blaze which is not tracking my mileage correctly. I have adjusted my stride and everything is cutomized for my weight and height. It's now telling my that I need closer to 12,000 steps to get to 5ish miles. What's the deal? It's shorting me. I still have my Surge and I have tested this on both on a mile long walk.

I assume that if you have not that long feets your step size is smaller.

What about calculating a step size based on GPS information. Why not give the option to record for example 500 meters with GPS and count the steps. This will make it possible to have a personal step size based on GPS data.

@g_bremmer They actually added that option with the last "update". Unfortunately, whatever they did in the process to enable that option seems to have caused the issues the Blaze is having now. Weather that option is selected on or off, steps and/or distance are wildly inaccurate.
