Update 5/6/16:

Hey all,

I've been keeping a close eye on this thread, and I wanted to give a quick update.

For reports of Blaze steps and/or distance being inaccurate, I think this is definitely something worth looking into. I've passed on all the feedback to our team so they can investigate. As a friendly reminder, remember that accuracy depends on many factors.

Here's a couple things being worked on:

For 'Auto' setting being too dim, you can switch to 'Normal' as a workaround in the meantime. Please note switching to 'Normal' will have a slight impact on battery life.

I'll provide updates when I can. Thanks everyone. 🙂

Update 4/27/16:

The firmware update should now be available to everyone. Update your Blaze and let me know how it goes! You can read the release notes for version 17.8.200.3 in the lead post or check them out on our help site. 🙂

Update 4/23/16:

Sorry for the wait, here's the release notes!

"The Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages are now available on Blaze. Note that Blaze is only available for pre-order from fitbit.com in China, Japan, and Korea.

This release also resolves a couple issues:

  • Some customers were unable to resume a paused FitStar workout.
  • Some customers reported problems with the Blaze screen (display)."

You can find these release notes for this update (17.8.200.3) on our help site.

4/21/16:

Hey everybody,

Some of you may have noticed there's a new firmware update for Blaze! We just started pushing this update out yesterday, and just like any other update, we'll be rolling it out in waves. This update focuses on a few bug fixes. Release notes will be posted here soon.

Thanks!

Really?  Interesting. . .hopefully this is a patch to fix all of the bugs that came up with the last firmware update 8.104.1!  Keep us posted on any issues if you decide to download.

Yep.... I have been looking through the app and don't really see any functionality enhancements.. Going to guess its just bug fixes.

Got the update a min ago nothing seems to have changed! Really would like an email for these update and "bug fixes " gets annoying trying to figure out what bug ! I know iPhone users should see something new in the meal log part of the app soon but for the watch nothing new it seems!

Just updated mine to this version. No idea what the improvements are either

Not to alarm anyone... But my steps seem to be about 80% accurate after this update... 100 step test is consistently leaving me around 80 steps. Come on now....

Best Answer

That's exactly what happened to mine with the firmware update before this one, pretty much has rendered my Blaze useless.  It went from being very accurate to 70-80% accurate, shorting me steps.  I went on an almost 3 mile walk the other night and it only said I took 3,100 steps.  REALLY?  I have tried resetting it, deleting app on my phone and redownloading with no luck so they are sending me a replacement Blaze.  I haven't received this firmware version yet but when I get my replacement, if that one works and is accurate, I doubt I will download any updates as they come in.  Too much potential to screw it up, it appears.

Actually was looking into it more... The step count screen when you tap once doesn't seem to update as frequently as if you are on the today screen. I think what's happening is it's getting frozen on another number for a bit and updates after a block of steps. So I may be around 20 steps ahead but the steps screen hasn't refreshed yet. I tried it again where I took a few more steps and it jumped up around 25.

Hopefully this will fix treadmill inaccuracies with distance, notification issues with the LG G4, and finally the reminder to move every hour notification. A man can dream, right @AndrewFitbit ?

how many days are the update waves/send outs spread out over? meaning– what is the longest i might have to wait?

Best Answer

I dont care how long it takes for my Blaze to receive the update as long as it works correctly afterward. The last "update" caused my Blaze, which was my second replacement, not to be able to sync with anything. Hopefully it doesnt cause issues with number four and I have to exchange it for a fifth one.

While I, of course, like to see bug fixes it is very disappointing that reminders to move have not yet been added to the Blaze.  It was said months ago that this would be added by firmware update soon after the Alta was released.  Soon has come and gone.  Is this feature going to be added and, if so, when?

In Australia my last update took 7 days for my wave to reach my shore. I'm waiting for the same reasons. Intermittent syncing on a Sony Z1. Just got the message. "Couldn't sync because Fitbit.com not found". Went into Firefox on the phone and all normal functions to Fitbit.com work.
