Music Control gets a facelift with Blaze! Learn more about your power to control music below. For a more detailed look at Music Control on your Blaze, please see this help article.

Music Control:

With Blaze, you can control your music with the touch of a button! To access Music Control, simply swipe downward on your home screen. Improvements to this feature include a Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) connection for iOS instead of BT Classic. We've also added the ability to rewind and increase/decrease the volume of the song, in addition to fast forwarding and play/pause.

Notes

  • Android and Windows phones will still use BT Classic for using Music Control.
  • While in exercise mode, press/hold Blaze's top-right button for 2 seconds to bring Music Control up.
  • You'll use both buttons on the right to control volume on Blaze. See image to the right.
  • As with most other Bluetooth devices, if you connect another Bluetooth device and disconnect your Blaze, you will have to connect it again the next time you want to use it to control music.

No matter what you're rocking out to, we're sure you'll love using Music Control on Blaze!

I just upgraded to the latest iOS 9.0 Public Beta  5 this week but prior to that on 9.2 it worked good as well.

This did make me curious about the Amazon music app. Sure enough, skip/pause/etc. work perfectly on my Nexus 6 when using that one.

Edited to add that it also works well with YouTube videos, for me.

Then, maybe because you have a 6s  -- on my iPhone 6 ... I went thru all troubleshooting myself and with the FitBit Support team -- neither worked and they escalated my issue and have NOT gotten back to me now...    They will, because they have the best support... but this has thrown them for a loop..   I am not the only one with this issue...  However, like I said I will use Amazon...much less frustrating.

The Blaze is nice, is by FAR more "wearable" than my Surge and the screen very cool... however it is sporadic on notifications, when I do get them, the vibration is almost useless (battery life) and the Music control was highly frustrating... leaving me wondering if I should give up and just go back to my Surge (MUCH less trouble)...that would be a shame

Hoping to hear from Tech Support soon..and maybe an interim upgrade (to include the features for use in real life) so that "we" might feel the Blaze is worth the price tag...

I feel bad for everyone having issues. My experience has been awesome from the time I opened the box. Pairing was quick and painless, all the functions have been great, music controls work perfectly.
I realize this hasn't been everyone's experience and for that I feel bad but I'm loving my Blaze.

Good for you.
And Fitbit needs to know both sides (and the device/iOS version) so they can track... I am sure there are MANY more like you, just as there are many that have issues. they (Fitbit) are providing a forum to discuss all sides. Happy tracking to you!

I was able to get my BT headset working along with the blaze music controls. Although while I was configuring, I kept asking myself "why?" Since my BT headphones already have music controls and volume, having those same controls on the blaze is redundant. Not sure which is easier to use.

Are many of you using headsets without music controls?

I get where you are coming from -- however I found it much easier to use the controls on my tracker...  I got spoiled using my Surge 😉

I hear you my jaybird blue buds have the controls but it's nice to see the track and control from wrist. That is if I can get it to work. I have to pair to my iOS iPod touch every time which is odd and annoying since I can see it in my list of devices?

Hello,

I received my Fitbit Blaze yesterday and quite thrilled with it.  however there seems to be a major caveat...  as I like my stuff wireless, I'm using bluetooth headphones.  It seems that when I'm connected to them, the Blaze becomes unable to connect to control music (which is kinda when I need it).

- if I dont connect the headphones, the music control works

- i tried with 2 different pair of headphones (Samsung Gear Circle and Monster iSport Wireless Superslim)

- my phone is a Samsung S6 Edge

What's the solution please?

thanks!

Did you try: open music app, then connect BLAZE, and then connect
headphones? Its the only way I can get it to work, I have a iphone and ipod
touch and jaybird wireless headphones.
Sometimes I have to remove the blaze (forget device) and then pair which is
a pain to do everytime.

** update**

If I use the following sequence then it works:

1- launch Google Play Music on my phone

2- connect the watch to music control

3- power on the headset and connect it to my phone

feels a bit like I have to follow the ignition sequence of a space shuttle, I hope that these processes can become more solid at some point so I dont have to be that mindful on the order in which I start everything.

---

i will try that and let you know... although I must admit, even if it ends up working that way, it seems quite cumbersome to have to use a specific sequence of connecting the devices.

I totally agree, I got the blaze mainly for music control. I don't like
that I have to "play" with it to get it to work every time I want to use it
on ipod touch. I am however enjoying the other features I like being able
to access settings via the device instead of the app. The only other issue
I have is activity involving wrist flexion is sort of uncomfortable.
The jury is still out for me..

I have the same issue. The buttons don't work, but the display does.  Also be aware that when this option is active on the Blaze, it may stop any bluetooth headphones from being able to control music player.  I have some bluetooth headphones that I can push buttons to move to next song or pause, but when the Classic is linked to my phone it stops my ability to use my headphones controls. Pretty much a poor design for music, kind of gives me the idea that music was an 'after-thought'

Hi im hopeful you can help me. I just got my Blaze last night and it worked fine with my music app Pandora. I went to use it today and I had to unpair my phone and then repair it for it to work. I played a song and it worked just fine. I walked away from my phone and then went to skip an ad and it would not work. I got right next to my phone and after a few tries it worked. I wasled away from my phone again and it will not skip, pause or play the songs nor turn up/down the volume. This is very annoying as I was looking forward to this feature. I should not have to keep unpairing and repairing my phone and Blaze everytime I walk away and want to skip or stop a song... what gives? How can I correct this issue?

I've not had a problem with waking away though I'm usually not more than 15-20 feet from my iPod touch? Did you pair the blaze first THEN your wireless headphones second? They usually works for me. Aldo are you using BT Classic?
I do have to pair it daily which is a nuisance. Sidebar: I'm starting think it might be because I'm pairs to my iPhone and a iPod touch I only use the touch to work out .
