Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

@jespley Did you close the fitbit app? Keeping it open seems to be the key to have notifications sent to my watch.

Calendar, SMS and phone calls. No email notifications.

To my knowledge, Blaze Classic is only for music connection.  All other features connect with the Blaze option.  I had to enable the notification widget in my fitbit app before notifications started working.

For me, if I'm not in the home screen when a text comes in, my Blaze doesn't catch it.  Is anyone else having this issue?

Looking through the app, it looks like call notifications can only be those from contacts. Is there anyway for this to be all calls (vs. only those in my address book)?

After playing with this watch for a while. I'm giving up! I can't get any notifcations from my whats app, and wechat, facebook messenger. Too many glitches for a new watch. The features are too entry lvl for watch at this price. I'm returning it on the day I got it!

Are any of you devices EVER going to support WINDOWS phone notifications?

@shineonyou It only supports standard text messaging apps for iOS and WhatsApp and the standard app for Android phones.  If you are on Android, you can download the app BitTracker which will let you get more notifications on your Blaze.

I don't seem to be getting any notifications through text messages (SMS) on Android, also, when recieving calls, only one contact has seem to actually come through.

I'm trying to set up the fitbit  to connect with my android. I get notifications but I can't read them. I was told I needed to switch it over to hangouts or messages not messages+ because it not compatible which I did. I even retstarted everything and followed to instructions to reset everything and reconnect but I still can't read messages.

How do you have the notifications display on your phone.  If you have them display in full-text, then I'm not sure what the problem is, but if you only have it pop up to say you have a message, you need to change that in order to have the text displayed completely on your watch.

Good morning, everyone! I just got my Blaze yesterday and have been busy playing with it, almost non stop. I love this little device!

Regarding phone calls ... Your Blaze must be within 20' of your smart phone. The notification will give you two options - to answer or to send the call to voicemail. Both commands will go directly to your smartphone. You will have to pick up your phone to converse. I see this working well for me in a number of ways.

As for text notifications ... I see the entire text message on my Blaze. When the notice pops up, I simply scroll up to read the entire message. Scrolling up will also show me older text messages that I have not cleared from the Blaze.

The is the process I see: I click on my tracker and under general is says notifications. I click on that and it gives me options for calls ,messages and calender. I click on messages and pick the right option and it enables it. But other then that I dont see anywhere that I can pick to have full text or pop up.

Are there notification settings for your phone in the phones settings?

I just went through my settings and double checked. I can give apps access to my notificatiosn which fitbit already has, it doesnt say anything about how notifications are displayed.

In your messages settings is there a choice to have the notification show the preview of the message? If so, that is the setting you want to turn on.

No sorry, it doesnt give me any choices.

@chelscol1489 - when you go to send a new text, do you have a menu button on the bottom of the screen?  If so, from there do you see "settings" - then "notifications".  Make sure Pop up display and preview message is checked.

I am on IPhone, so not 100% sure if this will help - just passing along some things i have seen.
