Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

Screenshot 2016-02-19 11.43.16.png

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

When I happen to get two text messages at the same time from two different people, I get a notification on screen that I have 2 (or more) messages and in the bubble it shows the names or numbers of who sent a text, but there's no way to expand that notification and I can't see the messages.  Individually I have no issues, I love this feature.  Does anyone know how to expand it?  I've tried swiping left it did nothing.  I tried double tapping, nothing.  Holding down, nothing.  Any ideas?

My notifications now work correctly.  I am not sure exactly what I did to fix the one issue since I had some other related issues.   I did make changes to the notifications in the app and on my IPhone.  Also, I see something else that happened on my phone that was strange.  Apparently I had all calls routing to voice mail except my favorites list.  The only person on my favorites list was my wife so she was happy.

I have no idea how my phone got changed.  I did not even know about those settings.  Live and learn!

It depends on the software you use for texting. I personally use Handscent,
it has the preview feature needed to show the full text on the Blaze.

Yes it vibrates.  I don't see the display until I raise my arm.

Notifications worked on my Blaze (paired with Samsung Galaxy S5) right out of the box, but then stopped working.  I disabled and re-enabled, didn't work.  Deleted FB app and re-installed, they worked for a few hours and now I'm back to the same problem again; constant alerts from the FB app to enable notifications.  When I tap to change the settings, it goes to the screen and the box is already checked next to Fitbit Notification Service.  I use the default messages app and I have preview turned on, all settings as they should be and no notifications.

Why is this so cumbersome for so many users, yet no firmware update?

Also, why do notifications get coupled together so I just see the sender's name and '2 messages' but it doesn't display the actual message?

Or if 2 people text me within a minute or two of each other, it lists the 2 names and says '2 messages' but again, doesn't show the messages.

A firmware update is DESPERATELY needed as the main reason many people bought the blaze, notifications, doesn't work and it's clearly widespread and occurring both with Android and iOS devices.

HELP!

That's all the same problems I am having. I'm also not getting calendar notifications. Very frustrating.

iPhone 6 (Everything up to date), calls show on watch, messages and calendar reminders do not.
I'm at my wits end... I've been working on this for more than 6 hours now. 2 of which was with three different FB support agents. I'm on stand by waiting for an email update. I'm no dummy to technical issues, I know there are always a number of troubleshooting steps. However I feel like I've exhausted about all of them. After the first call, I went and exchanged my Blaze at Best Buy. The first watch didn't even show any notifications, this one shows calls, but still lacks messages/calendar. I thought it would be great to upgrade from the HR and I'm regretting every bit of it. Every procedure to check notifications, restart, Bluetooth on/off, uninstall app, disconnect device etc. etc. I have done. Since I'm obviously having similar issues with a second watch, I was willing to accept that it may just be my phone. I did a complete Erase all Content and settings, and I am still having the same problems. Now that I'm done venting to the forum😁, I hope that someone gets back to me with some good news to share. At least before I just throw in the towl and get a different device.

Like many others posting, I am having problems getting texts on my Blaze. I, too, am ready to give up and return it if I can't get it working properly. It is too much money for something that won;t work for the purposes intended. Fitness is a small part of it.  They should really have a disclaimer of what it will and won' tdo for each phone.  I have a Samsung Note 3.  I am using the default messenger which is Message+. Other default choices were Messages and Hangouts. Messages did not flow anything at all through to the Blaze, not even the bubbles that I am getting at least telling me that I have a text message. Message is not customizable and I found no setting button anywhere within the app. I am happy with Message+. If there is a third party message app out there that accepts both SMS and MMS and is customizable, I am open in that. I am currently getting call notifications but no choice to accept or decline call. Funny thing is, I did get one text that opened and then it went right to the bubbles. Please, if someone can reach out to me, I would appreciate it. If providing instructions, don't assume - be specific.

Thanks in advance

@ScrapBandit. The ability to accept/decline calls is an IOS feature only - as for messaging, others have stated that you have to use message and not message+ to see the full text messages.

Hope that helps somewhat~

I am aware of the inability to accept/decline calls as I stated in my post. I am fine with that.

My Note 3 came with 3 default message apps. Message has no settings anywhere in the app. It did not flow messages to my Fitbit Blaze. I can't turn notification previews on within the app if they are not there.

Thank you for answering.

Anyone else? This is my third Fitbit and the first to be difficult.

Use Next SMS, it may still go under Handcent. It's a third party text
message app, it works with the Blaze and is customizable.

I'm using a Note 5 and the default messaging app. When I open the app in the main screen, there is a More option in the upper right. I tap on that and then choose Settings. Notifications is the first option.

My phone isn't connected with the bt blaze classic because the loose eachother all the time😑😞 but if I am right you only need that for your music, not for the notifications.

It doesn't look like that particular device is compatibile with our app, or at least optimized for it.

The complete list of compatible devices can be found here.

Guys, so I'm pretty sure with support and how many times I checked settings, I checked the "Show in Notifications Center"(which I did read earlier in the forum).. But as I was going through everything again for the hundredth time, I found this setting off.
iPhone 6: Settings>Notifications>Messages>Show in Notification Center.
I'm am "mostly" getting notifications now. Not all my iMessages or calls appear. It's sporadic, which is obviously a bug of some sort. The watch buzzes every time, but doesn't show on screen. I can hit the home button and view the message. I'm hopeful there will be updates because I don't want to have to do anything. I want the ability to glance while I'm working, then decide if I need to pull my phone out or not.

I have an iPhone 6s and am curious if there's any way to receive text notifications on the Blaze without the watch actually vibrating? Like a silent only mode on your phone where it pops up on the screen, but doesn't vibrate or make a sound. I don't want to have to go into my app every night to turn off notifications so that my texts don't vibrate middle of the night.

I was wondering if you'll ever support the Honor 5x. At this point, when I receive a text on the Blaze, it comes in as though it's a phone call. I do not receive the details of a text and was just inquiring as to when if at all, you'll be able to support my specific phone.

Thank you,
