Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

My new Blaze has just stopped synching with my iPhone 4S. It last synched this afternoon and now won't do anything. I've updated to the newest app. Also, I have not been able to set up notifications. It says the Blaze has to pair with my bluetooth, it tries but keeps saying it fails.  I've turned off the bluetooth in my other devices, but that did not help make the connection to my iPhone. Any suggestions?

@yo_mama   Are you saying that Notifacations now work with the windows phones?

Last i knew, Fitbit was working with Microsoft to conw up with a solution. Aparently the Windows phones yse a messaging protocol that is incomparable with the protocol Fitbit decided on.

does anyone know if the fitbit blaze will have an update to allow whatsapp, LINE, and all other notifications to come into the blaze with an iPhone6 and toggle them on & off by app?  I know its possible because I get notifications for all my apps on my Martian Notifier and Garmin smartwatches.  I think this is what would make the Blaze practically perfect.

why do you think they will never have an update for iOS devices to have more notifications?

I was in Las vegas this weekend and got a bit of questions about my Blaze, it looks great!  just wish we got more notifications!

I've had my Blaze for a few days now and can get messages using my Galaxy Note 5. Initially I was trying to get the Hike exercise to connect to my phone. I enabled Blaze (Classic) on the Blaze and it paired under Bluetooth. I then tapped it to connect which it did. Still no luck. Hike would say can't connect to phone. I couldn't get Blaze to show under Bluetooth which I feel was the missing link. In the phone app under Blaze I chose to display texts. After doing that the Hike activity was able to connect to my phone. I then went into my Bluetooth settings and both Blaze and Blaze (Classic) appeared under Paired devices. Only Blaze (Classic) will connect, but now Bike, Run and Hike all connect to my phone. I then decided to test the text message notification, which wasn't my original intent and it worked. I am using the default messaging app.

I really dont think any of the other Fitbit users would know either,  as this qiestion is being addressed to the users and not Fitbit.

I performed all of these tasks and even rebooted my watch.  No change.

When the IPhone rings, nothing shows on my watch.  I also do not get notification of any text messages.  The messages appear if I manually go to the notification section on my watch.

So this function still does not perform on my watch.

@bigdata. On the iPhone, do you have notifications turned on to show on the iPhone itself?  If you have it set to be off instead of show "banner" or "Alert", it will not show on Blaze.

I don't know if you do or not - just trying to help

@bigdata when a text comes in, does the watch vibrate?  Nothing shoould be displayed until the arm is raised to turn the screen on. You may also double tap if quick view is off.

I receive multiple notifications per text and also a buzz notification when I open a text or write a text. Just my own experience thus far

@JenKitty Interesting.

I'd recommend unlinking/re-linking the notifications option. I imagine this is an Android OS issue- what operating system are you runnning?

@EmersonFitbit

I finally got my Blaze showing me text message notifications.

  1. The phone can't be on silent.

2.  When multiple messages come from the same phone number it will not show you the contents of the messages just who it's from and how many you have on your phone.

3.  If a single message comes in it will show you the content of the message. You must read the message on your phone before a 2nd message comes in otherwise the 2nd message will not show you the content. It will group them together and say you have 2 messages from that person.

Is it designed this way or should it show me each message individually so i can read them all?
