Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

my blaze has a very strong vibration

Good to hear. There many other complaints about weak vibration, so I assumed it was a design problem. I will wait to hear if anyone else has a strong vibration. If possible, I would like to keep the watch. I have 14 days to decide ( purchased at Best Buy).

Coming from using a Charge HR, I consider the vibration to be very weak on the Blaze.

I have no issues with vibration strength. Unfortunately my phone is not compatible for text messages. Might be an issue with calls and texts and strength.

For me it is an issue for calls, text, calendar and wake up alerts. All have very weak vibration. I have a 5C iPhone. If my hand is on top of the watch, I can feel vibration, but no vibration on wrist. This suggests that Fitbit designers put the vibrator closer to the face and further from bottom (just a guess). Maybe they will fix the problem in the next version. Until then Charge HR will go back on my wrist and Blaze back to Best Buy. They better hurry with next version, Vivoactive HR is coming out soon and it looks good on paper.

Mine also has strong vibrations.  It's great.  I've set Alarms to go off on the hour to remind me to step away from my desk and move every hour.  I'm also enjoying the Text and Calendar Notifications, along with the Call Notifications (I can keep my phone on silent since my Fitbit Blaze lets me know when a call is coming in.)

I have also upgraded and am brand new to the Blaze too.  Just charged it today the instructions say 1-2 hours so I gave it the full two hours and have a fully charged Blaze, seems to work fine.  Can't wait to try it out1

UPDATE: uninstall and reinstall the fitbit app - notifications are now working.  This is the third time I've had to uninstall/reinstall the app since I got the Blaze.  Not very happy.

seriously, this is frustrating.  Blaze notifications work fine for days then stop completely.  I have a GS6, so there shouldn't be any compatibility issue.  I have alarms set in the FitBit app, those work fine.  But Text, Calendar and Call alerts just stop working.  When this happens I get a red circle with an exclamination point in the center to the right of Sync Now - it just stops syncing and I don't know how to get it working again.  Going to try uninstall and reinstall the app.  Also my Blaze firmware is 17.8.102.7 - will that auto update over bluetooth of do I need to connect to the PC via USB?

Please explain 'all day sync' and 'Always Connected' what do they do and should they be on or off.

Also, the 'buttons' on all day sync' and 'always connected' are either grey or red.  What the heck does a red button mean? Off or On?  Wouldn't it make more sense to have a button either 'grey'd out' for off and Green for ON?

Best Answer
All day aync, tells the app to sync your tracker once an hour even ic the apl is not open. This works wi5h any tracker.
Connected is where the tracker and the app are in comunication with each other, and able to send info back and forth. The GPS on the Blaze uses this fearure to get location updates, it is also possible with several trackers to use the phone as a remote screen to your tracker. In this case the two are also connected ,and as the strps, miles, calories increase on the tracker, you'll see them increase "live" on the phone app.
Maybe this will help explain the difference.

@bigdata make sure you go into your notification and have the Show in Notification Center option enabled or they will not work.

You may need to disable then re-enable the the notifications within the Fitbit app as well after making the change above.
