Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

Screenshot 2016-02-19 11.43.16.png

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

I'm on Android and iPhone get the red and green phones on my blaze depending on the caller. Of they are in my faves then I get the phones, otherwise just the notification. I'm more curious about why I get multiple notifications for 1 text, or if they send more than 1 text I can't read them.

Siccalyn...I had the same problem. I was using Verizons message + and couldn't get the text. I changed it to Samsung messaging as the default and now the texts come through. Make sure you change that with the fitbit app to the new messaging system. I am using a note 5.

Hi....I have a Samsung S6....I got the Fitbit app and am trying to link my Blaze with my phone.  I'm trying to follow the directions but it says to open the app and tap on the tracker tile twice but I don't see the tracker tile.  I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it but it's still now showing up.  I can't link my tracker to my phone and that's one of the main reasons I chose this tracker.

Help!!

Make sure your blue tooth is on and that blaze classic shows up on the bluetooth....the go to the fit bit app. And turn off the notifications then turn off the bluetooth. Then turn on the notifications on the fitbit app then turn on the bluetooth again this worked for me. Someone else posted this and that's how I ended up doing it

Got my Blaze yesterday and I love it. Thanks to all the posts here, I was able to set it up and pair messages from my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with absolutely NO problem. This is a great way to learn and solve problems. I especially appreciate the ease of measuring exercise and active minutes.

Got my Blaze yesterday evening. Loving it except also having issues with message notifications. Call notifications come through fine and as expected. Nothing on message notifications.

I have turned off notifications and synced and then turned on notifications and synced, I have restarted the FitBit app, I have restarted the Blaze, I have re-paired the Blaze with my phone, I have restarted my phone--not really sure what else there is to do. iMessage is currently allowed to have notifications on my phone and with message preview.

I've read something about Blaze vs. Blaze Classic being shown as connected in my Bluetooth settings. All I've got is Blaze, and I don't know how to pair anything additional.

Any ideas?

That is all simple enough, however on my Droid Turbo 2 (Droid Turbo supported) I have seen some issues with the Notifications.  I am listing them below.

  1. Music - I finally got Bluetooth Classic to pair up and now I have my play/pause working from the homescreen. However, this does 2 things, 1st the buttons on the blaze do nothing, 2nd when Classic is connected it stops my headphone commands so that I can't control my music.  When classic is forgotten and not on my phone headphones work again.  (This is an issue)
  2. Calendar - I get notified, however if you don't clear out each time you get notified it will appear that it is repeating the last event that happened.  Example, if you have a test1 when notifieds you and then setup a test2, and don't clear out the test1 notification...when test2 notifies you it will show test1 on the blaze again. So the same text shows up if you don't clear out each and every notification text you get.
  3. Text - I am on Verizon and use their 'Message+', which is shown in the choices..so I click that.  I get a notification with a bubble that I have 1 text.  But I can't preview it, Message+ doesn't appear to have a preview feature that I can find.  So this is very annoying.  Verizon is the largest phone company and Message+ is thier messenger, it would be wise to support it.
  4. Calls - I am at a complete lose here.  I do get notified but it says every call is 'incoming'!  I call someone and it says 'Incoming call'!?? Is there such a thing as only being notified on an actual 'incoming' call and not on outgoing?

Additionally when a call comes in it won't stop vibrating until either I hang up or mess with the watch and hit some buttons.

Seriously Fitbit technicians, we have some serious issues here regarding android support and bugs reports. Someone needs to address each and every one of these with a timeframe for fixes or you're going to lose a lot of potential and current customers. You can't just ignore these complaints and expect to sell these watches. Each of us here can sell a half dozen to users just by praising the device and showing how well it works. Saying that tech support has a fix for this or that in the next few weeks will go a long way. Ignoring us will have the opposite effect.

Patrick from online support is telling me I'm not getting text notifications on my Blaze from my iPhone because I use iMessage, and that I have to turn that off and only use SMS text messaging to get notifications. This goes directly against things staff members have posted here, but if it's true I will definitely be returning this thing.

Can a FitBit staff member confirm?

I can't speak for FitBit, but something must not be correct as I have IPhone 6+ and am able to get my iMessages.  Just an FYI for you........

@LoganCMD Interesting, thank you!

I personally have a pretty similar environment. When you re-paired the Blaze to your phone, do you mean via Bluetooth settings, or did you re-pair the device to your account. For good measure, I'd recommend doing so using this process and your existing account information (your data won't be harmed as long as you've synced recently). Also worth doing is toggling your Bluetooth on/off.

Blaze Classic can be ignored if you're running iOS. That's more of an Android thing.

Also, if you're testing this, make sure that your iMessage app isn't open- we don't send notifications if your iMessage app is running in the foreground so that you aren't bombarded with alerts! Finally, I'd recommend toggling the "notifications" on and off on your Blaze as well (swipe down from home screen).

I'm rooting for you, let me know if this helps!
