Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

They are "looking into it" with "higher support" because his information doesn't jibe with what they're seeing from users AND FITBIT STAFF in the community forums. I'm promised further news within the day.

In the meantime, my Blaze isn't receiving text notifications from iMessages OR SMS. Would love if a staff member could fix this...

@LoganCMD.   Everything else is working then? You get the call notifications ok?  One thing to double check in on your phone, under settings - Fitbit - notifications.  Be sure "Allow notifications" is on.

Call notifications work fine. I haven't gotten any Calendar notifications, but I don't really do calendar notifications. Notifications are turned on for FitBit, and I've done all of the troubleshooting suggestions--turning notifications off and back on syncing in between, restarting my phone, restarting the FitBit app, restarting the Blaze etc

The only one I have left is disconnecting the Blaze from my account and re-adding it. We'll see how that goes I guess.

I've now disassociated the Blaze from my account and re-added it; still no dice

@EmersonFitbit Hey Emerson. I just disassociated the Blaze from my account completely -- also removed it from my phone's Bluetooth memory -- and then re-added and re-paired. Still no Text Notifications.

imessage works for me.

@LoganCMD That's incorrect, sorry about the miscommunication. I use iMessage almost exclusively, and can confirm that it is supported, so long as your Bluetooth is on and your phone is withing range.

I'll look into your case @LoganCMD!

Thanks for confirming @ChaneRZ @Kmransom123! You guys are the best.

The phone tech I just spoke to said it doesn't show the message just tells you it is there.... Is that true @EmersonFitbit

If you have text message preview enabled, you should be seeing the message (provided that your phone is compatible). @Tkannady

How do I enable text preview? @EmersonFitbit

That really varies from phone to phone, @Tkannady- I wouldn't be able to give you a universal answer. A quick search yields this page, though it's unclear whether this works across all Android devices.

That doesn't help. I have a droid turbo (on the list of compatible devices) shows in my settings that it is hooked up to get notifications but cannot find "text preview" anywhere. @EmersonFitbit

Is there any way I can get both SMS & Google Hangout messages forwarded to my Fitbit Blaze? Right now I have SMS enabled, and it works fine. Looks like I can do one or the other.

I am using Verizon/Android.

I can answer a call coming in on my iPhone but can't end the call from my phone. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong?

I am unsure, I do not have an IOS, but my guess would be that you have the option to answer or send to voicemail and you must end call manually? I do not know, I am just guessing.

@EmersonFitbit Bumping... Still have heard nada from FitBit on my Blaze's lack of text notifications. Lot of money to pay for something that isn't working... Honestly thinking about returning at this point
