Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

Is there a way to get notified from different messaging apps at the same time. Example: if i have notification setting and choose whatsapp. I only get whatsapp notifications and no messenger (sms) notifications. And vise versa if i switch the notification settings to messenger (sms) i only get sms messages and no whatsapp messages. Is this an expected behavior? Is this a future enhancement?

@NabobCoffee depends on what os your phone is. If android there is an app in the store, bitticker, that wIll let you get notifications from which ever app you want. I'm running it and it works well.

My apologies, it appears it isn't listed anymore. However it is available for sideloading from the developer's website here Bitticker website

Thank you so much. I have another question regarding battery. The phone kept awake all night and I lost 25% during my sleep. Usually I don't loose more than 1%. Fitbit app is showing the reason. During my sleep I can simply turn off Bluetooth but what about daily usage is this normal? Sorry this topic is not related but wondering if you have an answer.

@NabobCoffee I'm surprised you're losing so much battery over night. I have my phone connected to my blaze and don't get anywhere near that. Perhaps rather than turning BT off you change the always connected setting and all day sync in the app's settings. That way it should only sync when you open the app and here shouldn't be any app load.

Why is not my Fitbit Blaze notifications from my lumia 950XL. My installation guide is not? As from the main screen of the Blaze, I swipe from the top down, it did turn out notice

Because @950XL the 950XL is a Windows 10 phone, which do not support notifications. (Blame Microsoft for not implementing GATT server in the bluetooth)

Can the vibration be made stronger? It is hard to notice.

As has been reported over and over--probably not. Most people have found Message+ unable to provide anything other than a notification that a text message has been received. It's tried and true that if you revert to the native Messages app you will likely have success in reading messages.

Be aware that because of the way Android handles notifications, if you receive multiple text messages (usually from the same person, but not always) before you can read them, you will only get a notification that you have X-number of messages and will not be able to read them. As I said, this is an Android protocol and not Fitbit.

Hello! Does anyone know if there is a way to set your text notifications to only display the name of the person who is texting you verses the entire message content?

I am able to read mine unless the same person has sent me more than one, then it lists how many messages I have gotten from them.

Just confirming that you have gone into Notifications on the Fitbit app, turned it on, and selected Messages as the text provider? You also must have Pop-ups Enabled for the app on your phone. Go to Notifications>Advanced>Messages :

@Jason212 my understanding is that massageplus does not work. I'm wondering if you see popups when a rext comes in on you lock screen or phone. This is required before Fitbit can send the notification.

Google messenger works very well with reading all texts, the default message app is destined to just send names and message count when there are more than 1 unread message. It will get displayed the easy it is in the popup

I don't use message+ I use the stock message app, my notifications seem to work, if I get a text it shows from who and the message, but if I don't read it and I get another from the same person it then says who and 2 messages instead.  I figured that's how it was suuposed to work.

I have a Note 5 and use Handcent Next SMS for texting. It's a great app
and also the texts can be read on my Blaze. If two messages come in at the
same time I do get the same problem, but it's only if they come in at the
same time or if the person texting me doubles up. I see who's calling me,
only apple allows you to answer or not.
