Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

The programers on iOS are not the ones that program for Android, at times it seems like there is no comunication between the two. But yes this is why What'sApp works on Android but not iOS. Other things are outside of Fitbits control,  with iOS the music can be handled through BTLE while on Android it needs to be done through BT Classic. Windows still doesnt have the GATT protocol for notifacations, they say they are working it.

I already had this selected. It sure doesn't seem to work for me. It will
be a day since it's connected.

I spoke with someone using it connected to an iPhone today.  They said they have NEVER had to reset their bluetooth or had ANY connection problems at all.  This is interesting to note.

My Fitbit used to give me all my call and text notifications. It has stopped working. I have turned off and back on again but it doesn't keep working. It will only work for a few minutes and that's it

They should incorporate Facebook Messenger into the notification option. It's an app some people use for a primary source of communication with others. Are there any plans in the worksame to include this? If not, there should be cuz I know it is a deal breaker for some.

Bitticker currently is the most popular work around, but has been removed and now must be side loaded from the developers website.

There is an app called Fitbit Notifaxatuons, available on play store, that alao works, but this app does use your network data.

When are notifications for Windows coming?

@mthimbane Microsoft has stated that they are going to add the GATT messaging service to Windows Phones, at that point in time Fitbit will be able to add notifacations. Currently wi5houtout the GATT Windows can not speak the language Fitbit uses for notifacations.

@Thi are you referring to Fit Notifacations or Bitticker Notifacations? Fitbit notifacations  are built into the Fitbit App.

Please help, I'm no longer receiving notifications to my Blaze, but I've no idea why...
I've tried:
1. All settings are set to have notifications and permissions on, as far as I can see... on the Blaze itself, in my messages app permissions, including message preview on. As another poster suggested I've switched all notifications off, synced, and switched it all back on again.
2. I've tried unpairing and repairing via Bluetooth
3. I've tried resynching
4. I've tried restarting Bluetooth
5. I've tried rebooting the Blaze
6. I've tried rebooting my phone.
7. I've tried various combinations of these things, for the craic.
8. I've probably tried other things that I've now forgotten, like pleading and sobbing and bribing a passing pixie...
Please help!

Still no messages, but calls do come tough to my Blaze, and I can track exercise and play music, just no SMS alerts. So this must be a major clue about what I'm missing?!

@jenshepherd - I started having similar issues beginning this morning. I can control my music including volume and my steps sync with the app on my phone, but I do not receive calls or txt notifications. I tried all the trouble shooting steps you did with the exeption of crying and talking to pixies. LoL

I went in the app and touched the Blaze icon under Dashboard. Then I went to the Notifications setting under General and it wasn't set up for notifications. It was weird that it went back to the state it was in when I first downloaded the app. I figured the issue might be fixed but no such luck. I restarted both the phone and watch and still nothing. Other than having a low battery, I can't think of anything. If my notifications don't come back soon, this Blaze is going back.

Try restarting your devices that's what has worked for me

I wasn't receiving call notifications on my blaze, until I realized it was ever since I switched to the new fitbit app dashboard. Why is this happening? I like the new dashboard way better than the old!
