Blaze Text Notifications

My Fitbit Blaze (so stoked to finally have it!!!) notifications are on and the text message option is set to "message+" which is the app I use... the TXT notification comes through to the device but only by identifying the name of the sender and "1 new message"... I've pressed every and all the buttons and I'm unable to open the message fully and read the actual text, I've even tried test runs sending texts to myself and still no luck... HELP!

I just returned mine yesterday because when I spoke to customer service they said there is a programming glitch with my Android version, 5.1 & texts don't open. They said they were working on the issue but didn't have a time frame.

@shortmrn Here's a quick checklist that I think you should run through, since it's helped quite a few people:

  • Check your phone's compatibility on this list.
  • Confirm that you've enabled message previews on your device, and that push notifications are making their way there.
  • Which messaging app are you using? I know that Blaze usually works best with the default messaging app.

Hope this helps a bit!

No fits as of yet. I seen others switch to plain message instead of
message +. And that worked, but I love message plus..... so I wait.....

Not fixed yet...at least not for me (AT&T, Galaxy S6 Edge+). This is what
Fitbit sent me after i contacted customer service...not sure I buy this
though...defeats the purpose of having texts to Blaze.

We are glad to help you today in regard to the Notifications on the Fitbit
Blaze using the Fitbit app for Android.

Please note that if you receive messages very often, you'll only get the
message (the bubble) that says you have new messages instead of, if you
receive messages every 5 seconds, your tracker will show what the message
says as long there is space on the tracker's memory. Also we suggest to
clear the history of notifications (text/call) that your tracker stores by
doing the following:

From past conversations with customer service the last I time spoke to them... they said it was an issue with the Android Fitbit app communicating with the Messager + application. So don't know if it's an issue with Fitbit app or Messager + app, but there is a conflict somewhere. I surely wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a fix to come, thus the reason I returned mine. I refuse to have to use an inferior messaging app so that my Blaze will show the actual text messages. I switched to Huawei smart watch... low and behold no issues with texts or any other notifications appearing on it.

I have tried this and it still doesn't work...now the "Notifications" under settings on the Blaze is just gone, it's not even an option anymore.  I honestly don't want the Blaze if I can't use the Message+ as that is the only one that you can do anything mor than a simple text.

At this point, it seems there was so much excitement around this, but it just isn't worth it.  I don't have music on my Samsung Galaxy S5.  I have an iPod.  So if I go for a hike, even to have music and use the GPS to know how long I have gone, I have to carry my phone, ipod and the watch.  This seems underly ridiculuous.

Sorry  @MsLindsey, The limitations your referring to are based on a decision you made, not Fitbits. Do you always carry your iPad when you run? I would think it is ridiculously too big.

@Rich_Laue she said iPod, not iPad. Slight difference.

I was having the same issue, I changed my messaging on my phone back to Message instead of Message+ and i now can read my texts on my Blaze,  i also had to change that choice in my fit bit app also.  I still cant reject a call from my blaze.

Hi All,

I was finally able to have my Blaze read the text messages from my Galaxy S3, because I installed a new ROM with Lollipop, I was using Kitkat.

Once I set everything back up, I am receiving full bodied text messages, with the senders name displayed.

Everything now seems to be working just like it should! Whoo hoo!

Happy trails peeps!
