Blaze battery draining fast

Hi everybody! I don't usually uses blaze while I work. I put it on the table. After about four hours, the blaze turned to 60% batteries from 100%. Any power-down mode can I use in the blaze?

What did you buy if it’s not too much to ask. Does it count steps and time asleep etc...?

I had to buy a new one.. Fitbit did not help me at all. If it is less then
a year old they will replace it.

Happy to help you out Francine.

After going without for a while, I purchased my Fitbit Versa a few months ago and like it very much. I bought it through Amazon with an extended warranty, should my non-replaceable battery prematurely crash again. It lasts about a week on a single charge. I use it in conjunction with Fitbit's application on my $65 Lenovo E7 Android tablet as I don't need or want anything fancier than that.

There are several watch faces available for free or next to nothing. I use the one that came with the watch. It shows steps, heart rate, calories burned, time, and date.

With a few presses on the button it also shows distance walked (km or miles), stairs climbed, and number of active minutes based on elevated heart rate and duration.

The Fitbit also monitors sleep duration, including a breakdown of awake time, REM, light sleep, and deep sleep. It monitors steps walked for any given number of hours programed by the user. I have mine set up for 250 steps per hour over 10 hours per day. It vibrates at 10 minutes before the hour, every hour, if you're short on steps. (It's easy to do 250 steps in a couple of minutes of running in place.) This is an extremely useful feature during the long winters when I've been sitting at the computer too long. You can also set a steps target for each day. When you meet your target, the watch vibrates and fireworks appear on the face. Cute.

Through the heart rate feature, the Fitbit keeps track of "fat burn," "cardio," and "peak" durations per day, and gives an age-appropriate cardio fitness score. (Says mine is excellent.) Also keeps track of days per week when activity targets are met.

The Fitbit also has dedicated features for about 12 different activities including walking, running, treadmill, swimming, golfing etc., as well as a bunch of features that are used in conjunction with a smartphone including GPS.

I don't use a smartphone (still using a hand crank model -- kidding), but my understanding is that duration between charging significantly decreases with a smartphone, especially when interacting with the phone's GPS feature.

There is a slight learning curve, and Fitbit's documentation perhaps could be better, but you quickly learn what you need and disregard the rest. The Fitbit is very easy to navigate through the features and data, and more information is provided through Fitbit's Android application.

I am very satisfied with the accuracy of the data, especially heart rate and sleep data. The sleep data is fascinating after being "processed" in the Android application, which is included at no extra charge. Additional info is provided with a paid upgrade.

Counted steps have some idiosyncrasies. If you're doing a treadmill with the device hand on the rail, or you're walking through the store with your device hand on the shopping cart handle, your steps will be under-counted. If you're chopping onions or do a lot of hand work using repetitive motion, your steps will be over-counted. I just found out that rocking in a rocking chair with your hand in a certain position also counts as steps . . . a couch potato's dream! However, typing on a computer does NOT add steps. In fact, as I type this, my "you need to get moving" alarm just told me that I'm short on steps for this hour.

I understand the subtilties, and if I feel that my step goals are too easily obtainable, I simply increase my goals. I'm finding that as we get into the warm summer months, increasing the target is warranted.

So, here's an update to my situation.  My Fitbit Blaze is working a bit better --- for the moment at least.  I cleaned the contacts with rubbing alcohol and it hasn't shutdown in the last two days, at least not yet. Hopefully this will extend the life of my Blaze.

I am glad that you found something that works for you. For me personally I had about as much as I wanted from fitbit and decided to move on. Best of luck with your new device.

I purchased the fruit watch 3. I just got my wife the same product but the 5 watch. She has afib and hers will do an ecg. Neither does sleep although I hear the new 6 will have something. It does count steps, does workouts, etc. you may need one of the fruit phones for it to work. I’m not sure. I can text, answer phone and a lot of other things. I am very happy with mine. You do have to charge it every day to day and a half the way I use it. But it doesn’t take very long to do so. Before going for this product you should check it out and talk to others who may have one. Good luck.

This is what fitbit does. I felt that mine the two I had became useless in to short a time for what I paid so I moved on to a competitive product and I am pleased with then new purchase.

Hi, for the last week or so my Fitbit Blaze has been burning through charge, losing a full charge in just a few hours. It is charging fully and apparently normally. It also doesn't register my bpm. I've tried restarting it several times but no luck. This is a replacement Blaze (under warranty) for one that died when about 2 years old; it is only about a year old now. Suggestions/solutions please. Thanks.

If it's under warranty, I would suggest going back to whoever will honor that. I'm assuming it's FitBit that issued the warranty?

 

It clearly sounds like you have more than a battery problem since the charge doesn't hold and it won't register bpm.

If you are under warranty go back to fitbit they should honor it.

I did all the things you recomend to help the battery.  None of them worked.  I have had this Blaze a couple of years. I charged it all night and it only lasted 2 hrs.  Now what do I need to do?

This is a common occurrence with Fitbit. Apparently they have a very limited life. This used to be called “planned obsolescence”. That is probably a term companies don’t want to admit to. You can call Fitbit who may offer you a small discount on an older model. You can stop using it totally or purchase a new unit. The other option is to look at competitive products. Good luck!

I wish I did. I was having trouble and asking for advice myself. I think I
posted in the wrong spot. 😂😂 I had to but a new one. I think it is a
scam. My new fitbit started having problems right after a year old.

Thank you! I was afraid that was the case. I have already purchased a
Samsung Galaxy watch since it wawa't much more than a new fit bit but would
do everything I wanted and then some. I appreciate the reply and I will
not be purchasing an over priced FitBit in the future

Sorry but it’s a dead-end -  I went through at least 5 Fitbits until I gave up altogether. The company will just keep on offering discounts (if it’s out of warranty) to low-selling models, but there’s no technical fix short of hacking into it. They’ve designed it that way to ensure repeat buys (planned obsolescence).

Yeah. The battery on my blaze is dead after 2,5 years. It charges, but the charge runs out in under 8 hours. New battery from ifixit could probably have done it, but due to new import regulations and coronavirus that seems a bit far fetched for me. I will probably try something else. I'm not a fan of fitbit latest models.

Thanks everyone. After 2 Fitbits that have both died within 1.5 years
(luckily the first under warranty) I'm finished with Fitbit. Won't be
buying another and wouldn't recommend them to anyone else. Cheers everyone
