From a mechanical, and physical point, tapping the frame should give it nore if a rocking motion, and more sensors be used in detecting the tap. . Well it make a distance, i doubt it. With my Blaze a light but sharp tap turns it on everytime, bit i do like Wick view, so the tapping is resea4ved for the other functions.

With me, if the Blaze has been activated say by a wrist turn and then goes off, a simple tap wakes it up again every time. If the blaze has not been turned on for a few minutes then tapping by itself lights the face about 10% of the time, works a BIT better tapping the lower part of the frame.

I myself don't typically "tap" to wake the screen - I find myself just pushing the left button. For me that is the simplest way to do it.

My Blaze has been unresponsive to taps as well as swipes from time to time and is getting worse. If my clock is already awake and I tap to see my steps or my bpm, etc it takes numerous taps. If I am running and want to swipe down to use the music controls, it won't react until I have swiped numerous times. Very frustrating!

I didn't pay attention to this, but now I remember. My Charge HR used to respond to single tap, but the Blaze sure responds to double-tap. Single-tap may work sometimes.

face when I went to "Today" and tapped once and twice, it wouldn't
respond. It took quite a few taps to then open it up. Just seems like
there is an issue here.

Sometimes it reacts very good to the double tap, but often it didn't respond
after all and I have to push one of the buttons.

same here---sometimes i have to jerk my wrist at least 3 times and 4-5 taps to see the original clock face..I won't even use the pop face because it is chopped off at the bottom, looks too cheezy.

Still having problems on the Zone clockface. Taps don't work at least 50% of the time. Have restarted multiple times and spoke with support dept. Waiting to hear back from your engineering team, going on days now. Please help.

I just got my blaze and I have to say I have same problem as all of you. I hope it is fixed. Im not going to be to happy if they come out with a new modle to fix this and just leave this one alone. Mine responds only half the time. Sometimes notfications don't even show up. Im useing mine with a apple phone. I loved my HR and I thought this would be a nice upgrade. Now I'm not so sure.

I bought my blaze two days ago and have the same issue with tapping, it's really frustrating as I really am happy with the set up of this device and the goals it's designers have set to achieve, sadly though they couldn't make it work as this is a huge issue, having a watch that doesn't respond when you need it to, especially when I'm getting calls and messages is a deal breaker for me and I'm returning mine tomorrow.
You guys have been complaining since februari but still no fix and the fitbit team offers no insight into near future solutions. I'll just wait until all this is fixed with the next model (hopefully).
For now my advice is to consider this fact very well before you decide to purchase a blaze.

There really is very few times you need to tap the Blaze. OK, there is only one instance to tap the Blaze, and you would tap the lower edge of the screen, and that is when you want to turn the screen on without quick view or by pressing a button.
For normal navigation your using a touch screen and it only requires the lightest touch. If trying to tap and the finger slides the lest bit the Blaze thinks your doing a swipe and not a tap.
If you don't pound the touch screen of the phone, why pound the touch screen of the Blaze?

Since this thread is about not responding to taps, and there are two types of taps that the Blaze(and Surge) accept.. Not knowing what type of rap your ref feeding to I decided to respond answers to both types.. I see that your response has no help in trying to figure out what the user is trying to accomplish by tapping. So I'm unable to respond.

With the screen on, or just recently turned off, it'll wake with a single tap on the screen. This is using capacitive touch, detecting the body's electrical charge. Only the lightest of touch is required, just like a phone screen.
To wake it from a deep sleep, you need to double tap it, but it detects that touch using the accelerometer. For double tap from sleep to wake, it needs to detect *movement*.
Mashing the screen with taps results in minimal movement - you're tapping it downwards against your wrist - it can't really *move*, and the accelerometer can't detect it the taps, until you bash the living bejesus out of it.
Now.. try tapping the wristband just below the bottom of the screen, where it meets the frame. Not directly downwards, but at a 45 so you *push* the frame just a little, causing a minute movement away from you on your wrist, it'll work just about every time, with quite a light touch. Experiment with the force of taps - you'll be surprised how little pressure you need.
Long answer, I know.. but explaining the why should help understand the how. I was stoked to figure this out, and wanted to share. 🙂
Tell me if this works for you.

I found out by accident that if you go on your phone app and tell it which arm it' on it will work. I tried it on mine and surprisingly it worked good after that. Woke right up and twisting of wrist woke up also
May not work for all but it did mine just thought I would share
