The Blaze can sync through the BT dongle that comes with any of fitbits trackers. For Windows their is an extra driver needed for fitbit connect to work through the cable. I know thier ate others that use the Fitbit Dongle and Mac
There really only needs to be one device that syncs your Blze, because every sync sends your data to the Fitbit server. The app/web goes out to to the server, not the tracker to get the data

I am having the same problem. My Blaze device is not showing up on the list of Bluetooth devices so I can't install the application on my Mac.
It installed on my Android phone but I am looking to have the data on my desktop. I contacted tech support but the tech didn't know why it does not work. The dongle is for charging only isn't it?
I hope Fitbit finds a way to fix this.
******Quick update - On my Blaze... I went to "settings" there is an option "Bluetooth Classic" selected that till it got to "pair" and now it came up on my Mac's list of Blooth devices but it still won't let me connect. "Pairing failed" ***** I turned off all other connections to my blaze (i.e. phone and ipad). I am running El Capitan OS Ver. 10.11 on my Mac.

Some thoughts based on my experience with my Blaze and my iMac.
I paired my Blaze to my computer via Bluetooth
If you mean that you went to System Preferences -> Bluetooth and paired your Blaze to your Mac, you should have not have done this. The Fitbit Connect for Mac app handles the pairing and unpairing of the Blaze with your Mac. Having paired your Blaze to your Mac outside of the app may be confusing it. You should try again after having unpaired the Blaze from your Mac.
There is also an error message saying "Couldn't Find Wireless Sync Dongle" when I click on the Fitbit Connect icon in my menu bar.
What is the age of your Mac? If it is new enough to that it supports Bluetooth 4.0, then the wireless sync dongle isn't required as the Fitbit Connect app will use your Mac's built-in Bluetooth. How to tell if your Mac has Bluetooth 4.0
My Fitbit Connect icon on the menubar shows "Bluetooth 4.0" as in the included screen capture.
Yes, I have successfully synced my Blaze to my iMac using its builtin Bluetooth.

One should let the Fitbit Connect app handle the pairing and unpairing of the Blaze with your Mac. One should not try to pair it via System Preferences -> Bluetooth.
Can you elaborate on what you mean by you can't install the application on your Mac? Is the application that you are referencing the Fitbit Connect app for Mac OS X ?
It installed on my Android phone but I am looking to have the data on my desktop.
If you have the Fitbit Connect app installed successfully on your Android phone, have you been able to successfully setup and sync with your Blaze? Once your Blaze is synced, you can access your data via the Fitbit dashboard via any web browser on your desktop, the Fitbit Connect app not required.

Thank you for the reply DwayneM,
The fitbit software provided by fitbit is installed but the watch still doesn't sync because the software thinks Bluetooth is not turned on.
My bluetooth version is 4.4 (anyone wanting to know which one they have... click on the apple dropdown, about this mac, system report, bluetooth). The watch will show up on bluetooth if you go to settings on your blaze and then change your bluetooth settings. 🙂
I will open a case with fitbit and see what they can do.
Thank you for your time.

My bluetooth version is 4.4
I think you may be quoting your Bluetooth Software version, and not the information which shows if your Mac supports Bluetooth 4.0.
From another one of my Macs (a 2011 MacBook Air) that does not support Bluetooth 4.0...
The watch will show up on bluetooth if you go to settings on your blaze and then change your bluetooth settings.
The only Bluetooth setting on the Blaze is the one that enables Classic Bluetooth. The Classic Bluetooth connection is used for controlling the Music being played on your phone from the Blaze - it is not used for syncing.
On this Macbook, the Fitbit Connect icon on the menubar has an exclamation point to its right, and its menu has "Couldn't Find Wireless Sync Dongle" at the top:
Wireless Sync Dongle refers to the dongle that was included with prior Fitbit trackers to provide Bluetooth 4.0 on computers that did not support it. This dongle is not included with the Blaze.
Attempting to Sync from the Fitbit Connect software results in :
This seems to be consistent with the symptoms that you have described. (Shame on Fitbit for the poor error feedback from the Fitbit Connect software.)
If you want to sync from your Mac, you'll need a Wireless dongle from a previous Fitbit tracker. Or sync from your phone instead.

That sounds about right. I don't have the 2.1 (0x4).
I don't have a dongle... I wonder why they don't provide one with the blaze... uuuuuggggh. This thing might get sent back.
Thank's a bunch D

Rich, the OP was specifically about using the Blaze with a mac. The Blaze does not come with a BT dongle, and being a mac, we don't need any Windows drivers.
Everyone else - I'm in the same boat as you. Although my mac happily charges my Blaze via USB, it doesn't allow me to do any syncing, an dthe mac's built-in bluetooth doesn't even see my Blaze.

Nope... Still broken as of 16 October, 2016. Very unimpressed with the FitBit. Logs, improper counting of steps, you still can't 'clear' badges or other items... Very immature system, software and who in 2016 can't get software to work properly with a Mac...? Annoyed.

It does not recognize the dongle so this is not true. Bought a second charge dongle and it too still won't recognize it much less even intstall the Mac OS software. It might be a OS Sierra issue, but it wouldn't even do it with Yosemite either... Very annoyed...

This is the first I've heard of the Mac not recognizing the dongle, my Mac friends haven't had problemd. My understanding is the fitbit connect should now recognize the native BT. It also might be able to sync through the charging cord.

Greetings! Unfortunately, this is, and has been quite common for almost throughout all of 2016. Even with my BT not being 4.0, the attached dongle(s) should see it no matter what... and it does not. 😞

Hi, has this issue been resolved? I'm having the same problem with a Charge 2 that I just bought... Haven't tried the dongle yet as it didn't come with my tracker but I'm hoping there is a solution!
