Blaze not syncing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just spent frustrating 2 hours trying to connect new Blaze to either my iPhone or macbook (high sierra). Have installed the Fitbit app, and gone through initial start up, but get stuck on "Turn Bluetooth On", which it is. Have turned mac on, iPhone off and vice versa, but no Bluetooth connection, so can't complete installation.

Shouldn't the Blaze just connect to Bluetooth with no problems? I am already thinking of taking back to shop!

A warm welcome to the Community @beelzebub.

I recommend verifying if your Blaze is paired to your account. If you are not seeing a Blaze icon, it means that it is not paired yet and that you need to do the following from your Fitbit app to set it up:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon.
  2. Tap Set Up a Device.
  3. Choose your device and follow the on-screen instructions to continue.

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Smiley Happy

Hi,
My Blaze is not found when Bluetooth is on, but I think I have solved the problem.
The Blaze is not syncing because my Macbook Pro has an older version of Bluetooth installed, 2.0 which is not low energy. This cannot be updated, even though I am running the latest High Sierra OS.
The newer low energy Bluetooth version is 4.0, but older Macs may not have this.
A dongle is needed to add connectivity to allow a Fitbit Blaze to sync.
The Blaze packaging does say that a Mac will work, but omits to add that Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy) is also needed to allow syncing without having to add a dongle.

Can this be made clearer on the instructions shown on the outside of the Blaze box? which is what potential customers will see first before buying.

Thanks,

Jules

I had the same issues with my Macbook 2011 edition. I just got my Blaze in the mail yesterday. I found my dongle from an older Fitbit and it worked fine after that. I agree that a dongle should be supplied and then other people with older Macbooks are not going to have the same issue. So it doesn't work on all Macbooks, especially older ones, even the box says different.

Hello and thanks for the info.
Fitbit customer service sent me a free USB dongle (shipped from Netherlands to UK), which connects the Blaze and works fine with my older 2011 17inch MBP
The Blaze box doesn’t mention that a Dongle may be needed, just says Mac compatibility.

I just got the idea to try my dongle from another Fitbit that I once had and I was surprised that it worked. I think that it's going to be something that Fibit might have to do(put dongle in) until they can get a fix for old Macbooks. Customers aren't going to buy a new Macbook so their Blaze can hook up to it. If I didn't have the dongle then I wouldn't be able to use my new Fitbit on my Macbook and I wouldn't be too impressed if that was the case. I am glad that it's something temporary. Well, for me it's probably going to be permanent which is fine.
