Blaze setup help

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
Hi. I'm already using a surge and I'm trying to add new blaze to the app. While the app has identified the device and setup is complete with number validation but the device screen is still showing the set up message. I have restarted my phone, unpaired devices, nothing has helped. Tried restarting the Blaze but that's not happening for some odd reason. Pls suggest what should I do or check to ensure I can move forward from the setup message on the blaze for it to start tracking.

@KarmaHappenz that's pretty much what happened to me, for 4.5hrs non stop. I think it's because the Blaze is trying to link with Fitbit's servers but, due to their network capacity or whatever, doesn't get through.

What I tended to do was delete the Blaze from my account and restart the installation of a new device. Eventually I got lucky and managed to install and update in one go.

My phone does not even recognize the blaze - still haven't heard from
Fitbit guess that will be Monday since it is the weekend??? Pretty
disappointing that a new device doesn't work out of the box! They should
have been tested more before they offered for early purchase. Just saying!

@mlbne the Blaze only comes with the charge dock, so don't worry. However it does work with the dongle other fitbits came with.

I'm expecting my Blaze. To arrive in the mail sometime Tuesday. I know how to sync to fitbit app. But do I also need to sync up to my Bluetooth on my phone before using it.

I threw out my old fitbit dongles.  Is this why i can't connect to my mac? MaryLouise

If needing the Fitbit Dongle then it can be purchased from the Fitbit Store. @mlbne

So are you saying that a dongle is REQUIRED for a Blaze? MaryLouise

No a dongle is not required, notice i did not yell. the Blaze is designed to integrate nicely with the phone app. It is not required with any compatable phones, and newer Win10 computers with BTLE won't need the dongle.  if want to sync through a Mac, this is not necessary and redundant with a cell phone, the dongle will be needed.

I'm sure Fitbit sees that most people will not be buying the Blaze unless they have or are getting a compatable phone.

I have the LG 4 phone - it isn't the phone - it is the Blaze - it will not
come off the set up screen.

According to the manual - the dongle was supposed to come with it as it
shows the charger, the blaze and the dongle - Fitbit did apologize for it
not being included and did say that the dongle is a universal one and the
HR one would work - however I wish I could get past the setup screen on the
blaze.

@ENH The Blaze does not ship with a dongle, but you can sync and setup your Blaze on computer if you have it plugged into a USB port. If you have a computer accessible, you can download the Fitbit Connect software here and then go through the computer setup instructions listed here.

@mlbne A dongle is not required to sync your Blaze with a computer. If you have a dongle already, the Blaze can sync to it, but you can also sync your Blaze by plugging the charging cable into a computer's USB port.

@SassyPants-21 The Blaze syncs to the Fitbit App just as other Fitbit trackers do.

Fitbit trackers sync with Fitbit Connect every 15 minutes if it is near your computer and the wireless sync dongle is plugged in. Note that Fitbit Blaze doesn't come with a dongle. To sync a Blaze with your computer, put the tracker into the charging cradle and plug the other end into a USB port.

Hope this provides some clarification!

I can hear the frustration. I deleted my Charge from the app on my Galaxy 5. As indicated on posts, turn off and turned no Bluetooth. Forget Windows 10, using the mobile app. It was still taking a long time to load firmware. Aha...turned off my phone and restarted it!

I got a progress bar underneath the set up icon on the watch. It still took a while, but it appears to be working. It has save all my old data from my charge. Hope this helps.

I hear you Grillo
I also have a Galaxy 5. And I will be going thru the blaze setup like you. But not until Tuesday. But I didn't want to delete my charge info . Until I knew the blaze was synced with phone and app.

My issue is not the dongle, the blaze will not come off the set up screen -

@ENH it took me 4.5 hrs of continued attempts to get mine off the startup screen. Others have been luckier and done it much quicker but I think it's pot luck on whether your Blaze can make connection with Fitbit's servers.

The method I used in the end was too remove the Blaze from my account and start the whole process from the very beginning rather than just try to force the update. It seemed to prefer that. Still took me a few goes though.

mine finally works - it took all weekend - after uninstalling and
reinstalling the Fitbit App. and turning off and on the blue tooth - this
morning it finally updated - Maybe the key is to try and to do the update
in the middle of the night when the server isn't busy. We will see how
today goes.
