ISSUE: Can't sync or pair Blaze with an iOS device

BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSIONS AFFECTED: (8.301.7) & (8.200.3)

iOS VERSIONS AFFECTED: 10.2.x

*** FIXED IN BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSION (8.301.8) ***

Still having trouble? Can't update or sync?

Read the difference between unbonding and unpairing first:

Unbonding - going into the bluetooth settings of your iPhone or iPad, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Forget This Device".

Unpairing - going into the Fitbit app, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Remove This Blaze".

*** DO NOT DO THIS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ***

Now that you've read that, try unbonding BEFORE trying to update your Blaze firmware (see screenshots below):

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

Okay, I've unbonded. Now what?

Try syncing your Blaze, then try to update the firmware.

Still can't sync or update? Here are some suggestions:

  1. Try doing some standard sync troubleshoots
  2. Sync/update using an alternate device (if possible)

Updated on 1/20/17 for clarity.

Is there any ETA on the fix? Will my Blaze just start working or will I have to check back here to fix the problem?

I posted steps earlier and have been successfully using my Blaze all day.

I don’t know if all these are necessary but its what I did.

Delete the Blaze from the app by touching the Blaze icon in the upper left of the dashboard screen. Scroll to the bottom and select “Remove This Blaze”

Delete the Blaze from the iPhone Bluetooth by going to settings - Bluetooth - and touch the small blue “ i “ on the right then select Forget this device.

Delete the Fitbit app

Reboot you iPhone by holding down the lock and home buttons

Reload the Fitbit app from the iTunes store.

Reset the Blaze by holding the left and lower right button until it cycles to the Fitbit logo.

Open the Fitbit app and add back your device like it was brand new.

It definitely worked for me.

Seeing the latest update that a fix is being made does this mean that none of the other measures like turning bloothoot on and off and/or removing the blaze and add it back works? Is there any other workaround while we wait for the final fix?

Is there an update regarding when you expect this problem to be resolved? My Blaze still will not sinc and the time is not correct. Thanks.

I had this problem but I went into my Bluetooth settings, forgot the device for Bluetooth and Bluetooth classic, did a restart on my blaze by holding the left and bottom right buttons until it shows the diamond and then went to settings on my blaze and turned on Bluetooth classic to pair and went to my phone settings and paired Bluetooth classic.  After Bluetooth classic was paired it synced no problem

You guys can still push Ads and Fitbit sales to my email and iOS app, but you somehow can't get the sync with my Blaze fixed for what seems like almost 7 days now (at least the last time it sync'd was 12/11)...

Does anyone know when the issues with the latest iOS are going to be fixed?  This is beyond frustrating.  I'm having the same sync issues, clock isn't right, and battery is showing low even though it's charged.

Mine is syncing, but certain clock faces aren't loading.  Tried a few times, did all the resets, but every time it says there was an error with the clock face and go back to the app to reload.

I had the same exact thing happen. Unfortunately I didn't see the IOS 10.2 issue until after I deleted it so I will have to wait until they get it fixed. Stinks because I've lost over a years worth of tracking by deleting it from my I app (I think but would be totally cool if it kept it but I'm assuming all that data is gone 😞 )

The Bluetooth symbol on my iPhone 6 is grey and doesn't recognise the Blaze. I have the latest iOS 10.2 on my iPhone and my iPad. However my Blaze does sync on my iPad.

same problem here.  Mine still isn't syncing.  They haven't updated this thread in 4 days.  Surely they will have a fix soon!

Since you are aware of the problem it would have been nice to block the users of blaze fitbit while you corrected this problem.

This worked perfectly for me, many thanks.

It appears that you can't sync on two mobile devices. I just turned the Bluetooth off on my iPad and it now works on my iPhone again.

I did the following.
1. Removed the fitbit from my bluetooth devices on my iphone.
2. Restarted the fitbit (hold left button and bottom right button until diamond shows up).
3. Go to settings on fitbit, switch fitbit bluetooth setting to classic.
4. Wait for the fitbit to show up as a connected device (do not connect the one that shows up as Fitbit Classic).
5.  On Fitbit, set bluetooth setting to off

This is all I did and I was able to sync again.
