It can!
You can change the length unit in your profile settings at https://www.fitbit.com/user/profile/edit
Once changed and saved the next time you sync your fitbit will be updated.

Best AnswerThanks SteveH but I can only find units which is in feet on centimeters or stride length, how do you change any of these to become kilometers and not miles ☺

If you change the "feet/inches" to "centimeters" you are changing from imperial to metric so this will also change miles to kilometers.
Best AnswerFYI - I followed the steps to change the units in my dashboard but, even after syncing, the charge2 itself was still displaying in miles! Tried logging out of the dashboard and back in, but the only place the kms showed was in the dashboard. However, the next day when I woke up, my fitbit itself was displaying in kms as well. So, I think maybe you have to wait until the counts reset at midnight before the device changes over????
