FitBit manipulates the data coming from Strava

This is something that I can't get my head around.

FitBit offers an integration with Strava, so why won't it display the exact data as it's coming from Strava?

Let me give a real life example. I went for a 3.1km run where I burned 264 calories in 18min 45sec with a pace of 5'57''/km - all this data is according to the Strava app, which was running on my phone and connected to my chest strap heart rate sensor for better precision.

As I have my FitBit Blaze integrated with Strava in a matter of a couple of minutes I could see that run as part of my exercise logs.

Problem is, it's not the same data.

This is probably due to a business decision I can't understand but despite third-party integration FitBit still tries to calculate my pace (6'02'' instead of 5'57''), calories burned (210 instead of the original 264) and I lose all record of my heart rate data (I read FitBit's API docs and lookslike there is no way to do this right now, which is sad but I hope someone in the business/dev team understands the importance to implement it)

Apart from the heart rate info not being there, why is FitBit trying to do those calculations for me? Can't I just have my Strava data appearing exactly as it's in my FitBit's exercise log?

Thanks,

Nicholas

It's great to see you around @npufal. Are you logging the same exercise in both accounts? If you are, I recommend just logging the activity in just one of the account to avoid duplicate or wrong information. You can also check our Can I connect my Strava and Fitbit accounts? article where you will be able to see more information about how these accounts work.

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

@AlejandraFitbit. I've always wondering about this same issue as presented by @npufal. I've always used my Blaze & Strava together and found the data synced by the Blaze to be less then Strava. So, based on your suggestion I won't activate my Blaze & rely on Strava with the hopes the data synced will be correct
