Fitbit Product Experts Alumni are retired members of the Fitbit Product Expert Program. Learn more
Looks like it was a program that ran from November 9th - 20th 2015.

Last year there was a program called "Step it up USA" that was done around the same time (in 2016) and was headed by the surgeon general.

I hope there will be something similar this year too!
To add - there has also been a few fitbit local events.
I generally just use the "walk for a dog" app (not fitbit based) which can help a charity for animals. And I also volunteer on my spare time to help animals in rescues and shelters throughout the year. (I volunteer at best friends animal society) Not exactly fitbit steps towards a goal, but it's still being active and it's for something.
Hope this helps!
