I've lost confidence in the blaze ability to calculate a calorie burn.

It's been reading that I burn off a minimum of 3000 a day. Higher on more active days.

So I ate to suit.

I'm lucky I caught it quick. Because after a week I've noticed progress in the wrong direction.

Muscle loss and weight gain.

Can you explain what it does to calculate the calorie burn. My profile has my current details. So no misplottin of information.

Why is it saying it's soo high a calorie rate?

Every website I visit for a nutrition calculation has me no where near as high.

Is mine faulty?

I dont quite understand what your trying to accomplish here. Sory if this sounds harsh but do you know much about working out?

If you are burning 3000 cals a day, that does not mean you should eat more. Eat less. If your trying to gain muscle mass, go to the gym. Get with a personal trainer and find out what you need to do to get to your goals.

Bottom line is this is a device that simply lets you know how active you are being. I would not base a diet or workout plan on it alone.

Hi there @FootNote.  Good to see you around.

To add to what @FootNote said, I would recommend creating a food plan. As he said, your tracker will give you stats on your actual performance but you can reinforce this with a food plan and working out to achieve your goals.

To start a food plan, do the following:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Food Plan tile. This is the tile that says “Start a food plan” or, if you already have a food plan, shows the number of calories left for the day.
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your food plan and don't forget to save. In the Fitbit app for iOS you can choose to set your own calorie goal or have Fitbit help you set one.
  3. If you want to edit the intensity later, you can adjust your Food goal.

Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything else!

@FootNote it sounds like the Blaze is overestimating calorie burn. This has been reported by others.

@Kevinp1983 you should try restarting tracker and see if that helps. There have been reports on this forum of the Blaze overestimating calories. If it continues you should contact customer support.
