Not getting text message notifications from iPhone XS

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have been through these forums and I have checked out a bunch of "things to try" so I am curious if anyone else is having issues with Text Messages on the iPhone XS. I just got this phone last week (prior to the FitBit was connected to a Galaxy S8).

I am on IOS 12.1 now, the update that came out this weekend.

I have removed the fitbit, deleted the app, restarted phone and and FitBit and nothing seems to work.

I do not use calendar alerts (but the phone calls work) and so far any other app notification I turned on works as well.

In one of the forums it was noted to turn on "show history" in the FitBit notificaitons, however, from what I can see that option is now gone. (See attachment).

Is anyone else having this issues? My wife upgraded to the X at the same time (but she had an iPhone already) and did not have any issues with this.

thanks,

CJ

Hi there @slingshot202, great to see you in the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems getting messages on your new iPhone XS. Thanks a lot for all you've tried to get it to work.

The latest models of iPhone devices have not been added to the list of compatible devices yet but usually there are no problems when new iPhone models come out so it should be working without a problem.

Something I can think of is that if you have your old Samsung phone around and it's turned on, you might want to turn the Bluetooth off to make sure that it will not interfere in the connectivity between your iPhone and your Blaze. If possible, remove your Blaze from the Connected Bluetooth devices on both, your Samsung phone and your iPhone XS. For this, go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone. On your connected devices, look for your tracker. Tap on it, then choose the option that says "Forget this device".

Then, go on your iPhone and set it up as a new device. For this, go to the Account section at the top right corner on the Fitbit app and select the option that says "Set up a new device". Follow the on-screen instructions and once you're done, your tracker should be syncing without a problem and you should be able to get all notifications.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more help with this.

: Thanks for the reply. The Samsung is long gone. I have pretty much taken
these steps stated a few times. No change. I'll go through the drill one
more time and hope for the best.

I'll update when completed.

thanks,
CJ

OK, totally removed the device today. Rebooted everything and still the same result.

I see the iPhone XS is not on the approved or combatiable list yet, so, perhaps something to be looked at. I have no idea why it woud not work. But it is really annoying not to be able to get my text messages.

Thanks,
CJ

Thanks for getting back @slingshot202! 🙂

I'm very sorry to hear that you're still having problems getting your  text messages from your iPhone XS. Thanks a lot for trying the suggestions I offered!

I spoke with the Support Team yesterday and they said that though, it's not on the list of compatible devices, you should have no problems with it. I'm really out of ideas, so I would hope for it to work completely soon 😕

Now, you mentioned the tips of enabling the "Show in history" setting to be able to get your text messages. Did you look for these settings on the Fitbit app or on your iPhone settings? Just in case, I'd like to clarify that this has to be found in the iPhone settings. Once you're there, tap on Notifications, then Messages and here the option for Show In History should be toggled on.

I will still report this and if I have any update, I'll be sure to let you know!

Hi,

I am also having this issue.  It hasn't worked for me since I got my iPhone X last year.  I tried everything and finally gave up.  I thought since they have the new XS phone, surely it would be fixed by now.  Nope, still doesn't work.

Will they ever get this fixed?

Hey @Zenbear, it's great to welcome you.

You mentioned that you gave up on the tracker (sorry to hear that) and I would like to know if the Blaze stills paired to your account? In the meantime, I recommend following the instructions provide in the help article My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone.

Hope to hear from you soon. Smiley Happy

Just switched from my iPhone 6 to a XS, I used to get messages on my fitbit, but not now.  I went on line to my fitbit dashboard to see if all was set correctly and it appears it is.  And my fitbit app on my phone is set to get notifications, but still no messages show on my fitbit.

I’m getting the same problem with my iPhone XS and blaze.

But now and again an odd text or call  Notification do work.

I believe Apple are having issues with Bluetooth on the iPhone XS.

I was missing the notifications in my Charge 2 when I moved to iphone XS. I did the following and I am getting my message alerts in my fitbit.

1. Open you fitbit APP in your iphone xs.

2.click on the fitbit icon the Fitbit dashboard.

3.It will open the screen where you can see thee Fitbit name, battery status, Silent alarms , Notifications  etc.

4. Once you click on the notifications tab,  Fitbit will bring up a prompt to connect/pair  fitbit to your iphone xs.

5. Approve the pairing prompt and you are all set.

You should be able to get the notifications back on your iphone xs.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Dusbaba

I’ve read the comments on how to get text messages on your iPhone XS . My iPhone XS does not have a Show in history. Has anyone been able to receive text messages on their iPhone XS??

So,I've chatted with yoru tech support about this, three times now. I  have an Iphone XS, had an older blaze.  No text messages received (only calls).  I bought a Versa Lite - same issue.  Why is the XS listed as a compatible device when it's not?

I gave up and went to apple watch.  If they haven't fixed it by now they never will.
Good luck!
