Screen cracked!

Hello, I got Fitbit Blaze as a birthday gift from my girlfriend three weeks ago. I was so happy when I found out that I will get them. All the time I took care of them but today morning after I was sleeping with blaze on my hand I found the screen cracked! I am very disappointed because I have had Charge HR for 14 months before and I had absolutely no problems with it all the time and it had only plastic screen and Blaze should have gorilla glass. What is wrong with my Blaze??

Not really, those are examples. But if 16KG is enough to break the glass, you wouldn't need the total weight. An arm would be sufficient.

Obviously, people have gone to bed, the screen has cracked. Apart from impact (of the bed, objects around the bed) what other logical explanation is there for crack? Apart from a body part resting on the screen for so many hours causing the crack, which is consistent with diagonal crack caused from pressure.

You are asleep, so this is all based on assumptions. For all we know, you could be a sleepwalker and bumped into something.

I understand you are annoyed Fitbit won't replace your product. Show me photo of the damage and I will assess it and show you how it happened.

My question to you though: how would you prove the screen wasn't cracked by accident/deliberately?

As stated:

Glass doesn't crack on it's own unless due to impact (hit), pressure (sat on) or defective (case too tight for example).

I`m with you 100% on this. These products are not up to standard. How can they defend a screen cracking so easily and to suggest some people "maliciously damage the screen" is an insult to their customers. Come on FITBIT sort out the robustness of the  product, and either offer a repair or replace service. The alternative is that you will continue to lose out to your competitors. I for one will not be buying another FITBIT product.

An update on my Fitbit Blaze - it is in a landfill somewhere, and before you judge me, sorry I would have recycled if I knew where to take it. I bought an Apple Watch, and well, I love it! When I bought the Blaze last August, I was considering the Apple Watch, but thought maybe the Apple Watch was a little too pretentious and bandwagon-ish to buy. So, I wasted $189 (not including tax) and got a far more inferior product. You can get an Apple Watch now around $245, depending upon the series you want. It really is worth the extra money. Plus, if the screen needs to be replaced, guess what, it can! What a genius idea! I mean really, a fitness tracker that a company is not anticipating wear and tear is ridiculous. Also, to the other poster earlier commenting about people sleeping in their watch and that they shouldn't expect it to hold up, I hope a Fitbit rep corrects you on the fact that this product is a sleep monitor as well. I would assume that they are expecting their customers to sleep in it. But for now, I'll move on with my new and better product.

That’s what I did. Fitbit was great about dealing with the factory defect and issuing a new pebble. But in the end, I moved to a better product.

If it was sat on (80kg), it could crack, during sleep (for someone of a larger body, 150KG) laying on it may cause it to crack, their arm resting on it for 2-8 hours could cause it to crack.

I actually have an Apple Watch.

Does it auto detect activity? Nope

Does it auto detect activity? Nope

Does it last 4 days+ on a charge? Nope

It's great as a smartwatch and the notifications are great but as a fitness tracker, it's not that great! But who knows, it may have all these features in a year or two and I end up upgrading to a new Apple Watch.

There are still people who crack their screens, scratch them and claim it's defective. I have the Sapphire one and it's not got a single scratch. I also had the sports one before (ion-x glass) and that didn't have a scratch.

Sorry to say but I'm going through the same thing almost and have contacted fitbit several times. I've own my for almost a year and the screen cracked at about 6 month.  I suspect its because taking it in and out to charge and that weakened the glass.  They are not replacing mine but are offering a 25% discount to purchase another.  I was give to me as a gift and purchased through the website.

I have already went through 2 Blazes with cracked screens, now after 8 months my 3rd is cracked. Fitbit customer service was great at replacing my second Blaze, but they did advise me, that the second one was complementary. Now, my question is:, "why can't it be a Casio Shock Proof Glass." I had owned each of my Casio Date Banks for 3 years on average while only having to have the battery replaced about annually and the reasons for the new ones, was for the updated more slender models. A great watch back in the day. Now we are into 2018, and Fitbit can not make any improvements to the non-proprietary Casio Shock Proof watch to improve their customer experience? Help Mr Fitbit! Love your product, but still defective after every 8 months if my job is "Landscaping" and not inside the air conditioning rooms of the Fitbit complex testing lab.

My Blaze Screen cracked at 11 months.  Base on the comments here its useless to contact customer support and with the number of people with the same issue, this will be my last fitbit.  Maybe when customers stop buying their product, they will listen and improve the glass currently being used.

Agree entirely. These products are not fit for purpose and what’s more annoying is when they advertise them by a perdon competing in a tough mudder event. What a joke. Do not buy a FitBit until they sort these problems out and for offering a 25%voucher they are having a laugh at the consumers  expense !

The wife and I switched to a better quality product with a big red dot on the side. No more breakage. I can go on a run and have email, text, music, run and pulse tracking, and telephone and not have a phone anywhere within miles.

I wish Ford had paid to have my window fixed when the rock hit it .There was no sign of abuse and I was simply driving the car down the road. Heck they did not offer me a window at 25% off. It is a good thing that iIhad insurance, which BTW is available for Fitbit trackers.

Of course when I read the warranty of my vehicle I see that the damage is not covered.

I'm sure you all have read the Fitbit warranty

Mr Rich_Laue, I read your analogy of your cracked window on your Ford as you compared it to the cracked screen on our Fitbits.  I thought it was very interesting, and found you to be an asset to this discussion. Here is the reason why.  I live in the state of South Carolina, and according the State Legislative Law on cracked Ford windshield windows, I don't get a new Ford, but the law does require the windshield to be fixed at no charge or deductible to me.  This is why I love my great State of SC, they ensure their great citizens are not being pilfered by companies or corporation.  See my State realizes Ford can make a stronger safety window but it maybe cheaper to sell you a Ford window that is inferior.  With that being said to you, this is why I really liked your attachment of the Fitbit warranty which is both implied and limited and it states:  This Limited Product Warranty is valid only in the jurisdictions where the Products are sold by Fitbit itself or through its authorized reseller or agent and is valid to the extent permitted by the applicable laws of such jurisdictions.  I purchased my Fitbit on a US Military Installation in Europe and I am a citizen of South Carolina.  A cracked face is poor quality on a watch.  If I buy a Rolex and crystal cracks, Rolex will fix it.  If I buy a cell phone, and glass breaks, that is not a quality issue, its a glass.

Mine broke 2 days after having mine. I was offered 25 percent off because I bought from an unauthorized dealer. They didn't tell me they were unauthorized so how would I know. Single mother of 4 who finally bought herself something only for it to last 2 days and be offered a new one at 25 percent off. I saved for 6 months for the first one. Very sad!!

Your analogy is drivel

To make it accurate, Ford would need to offer you 25% off a whole new replacement car.. because you broke a headlight.. because in Ford's infinte wisdom. They moulded the headlights to the engine, and didn't think to offer replacement engines in case you cracked a headlight

Yes that is true. However when I am raking my yard and my watch never
struck anything at all not such drivel anymore. If it were my fault it
broke, I would never have asked them to replace it for me. The screen just
cracked, it was not broke. There is a big difference in that sentence.

I just don’t understand. The say it is made with the best glass out there
and there are so many people that have had the same issue. Yet the cover
some and not thenext. I thought about saving for the Ionic but
unfortunately will be looking for another brand entirely with the way I was
treated.

sorry, that wasn't directed at you but to the "Community Legend" who felt the need to compare a cracked windshield with the issue we are dealing with..

and then making an underhanded comment linking us to the warranty

MY blaze broke when i crashed on my mountain bike. and, instead of just offering to let me buy a replacement pebble (the detachable part with the actual unit in it) they offered me 25% off a whole new watch.. im right there with you, and im even willing to pay to correct my stupidity..

[rant]
whole new band i don't want, another charger that i don't want, the packaging that i don't need, and all of the design and engineering costs that are associated with the product, that your paying for by selling someone a brand marketed item.. i just need a replacement part of what broke.. and i know they exist in individually wrapped bags.. with "fitbit replacement part" ON THE PACKAGING

so instead of supporting consumers that damage their product through complete or no fault of their own who damage their product by selling replacement parts, they would rather sell you an entire new device at dealer cost. way to try and get people to take your product as anything more than disposable e-waste...

Well, you know so many products out there have been associsred with
RECALLS,this should be at the very best investigated to insure that the
product is not a hazard to owners, and like you say just replace screen. We
would pay shipping to get fixed. You know they have the glass out there,or
hidden from us so we buy more. And finally they should label device as it
is - disposable.
