Hopefully not since connected GPS doesn't seem to be working correctly since the last update.

I agree with @MikeS1971.  My steps/distance have been all kinds off off with that new auto stride and I don't know what my stride was before to get it back to where it was.  It was off but not as bad as it is now.

Just realised that Fitbit made the new Auto Stride Length feature enabled by default.

Not a customer-friendly practice to silently change app behaviour and makes the new behavior the default.

Customers could see the distance reported for their daily steps change, perhaps dramatically, due to the inaccuracy of Connected GPS and in turn the inaccuracy of the auto stride length, and not have a clue what has happened.

A step is a step, changing the stride does not change the step count.
The stride is only used to calculate the distance when not using the GPS.

The distance corresponding to the steps taken for daily activity (that doesn't use the GPS) = stride length * step count

Because automatic stride length is enabled by default in the latest iOS app update...

A user goes for a Connected GPS Walk/Run, and the stride length is automatically incorrectly calculated because it is uses the incorrect distance returned by the Connected GPS Walk/Run.

After that Connected GPS Walk/Run. the distance corresponding to steps taken for daily activity (not using GPS) = incorrect stride length * step count and is therefore incorrect.
