Turn display off - completely!

Is there no way to turn the display off completely? I had to rip it off again last night as the display kept blinding me. I turned off the flick wrist thing, but every so often it comes on at random. It is so bright in the dark it is annoying. I just tried to turn it on by moving my arm, but to no avail.

I'm fed up with this. One of these nights it'll be flung downstairs!

@brightonpete, no there is no way to turn the display off completely. If it is tapped or the side button is pressed, the display will come on. Did you sync it after you turned off Quick View in the app? If not, it will still be enabled on the tracker.

If the bright display bothers you while you are sleeping, the best thing to do is to take it off when you go to bed and lay it on the nightstand.

Keep a piece of electrical tape near your bed, and place it over the display while you sleep.

Put a terry wrist band over it.

I can't relate, I guess I'm one of the few that sleep with their eyes closed, and the display is so dim that I never notice that it turns on. Others however say that at night, the Charge 2 lights their room up as if it was noon with the window blinds open.

While I see the 'solution', this is definitely something that you should take back to your design team. You want me to wear it to bed, and are anxiously enhancing your sleep software (ie. you want people to wear it to  a bed more) so you should likely put some thought into the insane brightness of the tracker. My other half even wakes from the brightness, and I'm the one wearing it!

Consider maybe a dimmed sleep mode?

Meant to say "obviously enhancing your sleep software..." (Autocorrected to anxiously)

@Anonymous100, you might want to consider voting for this popular feature request.

In the meantime, you can always turn off Quick View at bedtime (on your app choose your device -- Charge 2 -- and scroll down to Quick View and toggle it to off).  Don't forget to sync or the change won't take effect.  In the morning you can turn it back on again, and sync.

Never thought of that - of course at night my brain isn't at optimal processing power!

This thing woke up my wife at night because it is very bright. It is not good enough to put it aside while you sleep. What if I want to see my sleep pattern? Best is to put a "time zone enable option" under the quick view selector.

I can't understand how this passes for a solution.

I specifically bought the fitbit charge 2 to monitor my sleep because I have insomnia. But the screen popping on is a negative.

Some people wear it to track a sleep disorder. So they are easily disturbed by this light.

@codye123 I don't think it passes for a solution of you want the display to stay off, but @brightonpete's question of "Is there no way to turn the tracker a screen off? ". The answer found in the solution posted by @USAF-Larry is correct there is no way to turn the screen off, then Larry goes on to explain the a soluble options. Please remember that often the title and the post are not describing the same problem.

As Fitbit users we are unable to change the way a Fitbit device responds, your best course of action would be to follow the link posted by @Julia_G above.

In the mean time as suggested by @WaveyDavey and done by others, a peice of black tape or a running sweat band will cover the display

Actually, I did follow the instructions for turning off the quick view
feature. That was how it was coming on every time I tossed in my sleep
because I was light sleeping and the flash startled me awake. Now it is off
and I didn't get bothered by it once. But if for some reason I start
hitting the side button in my sleep I will use the black tape method.
Thanks!

Hi,

I don't think putting in on the night stand is the solution, because then the green light from the laser NEVER turns off.

This is a waste of energy and of the lifespan of the Fitbit. Because, if I understand correctly, there is no way to turn the Fitbit off at all?

Thanks,

When playing your tracker on the night stand @ReiseEms  the heat rate lights should turn off,  have you cured that your heart rate setting is on auto or off?
