Charge 3 has gone crazy!!

Well I got my Charge 3 which replaced my Charge HR, and love it... Well I did until it lost its mind... It started showing the line at the top of the display as many others have had, and yesterday it started glitching and getting all fuzzy, then as the day progressed the display moved towards the left side of the screen.... And now I doesnt display at all.. Just get vibrations...  It still syncs and still sort of displays for charging... And that's it... Would really like to get it figured out so I can enjoy my Fitbit again...

Try a Restart and do it several times if necessary.

Yeah, have done different variations of restart, all the way to complete reset, as I've seen mentioned previously on others with similar issues...  Seems like I got hit with all the issues multiple people have talked about... All on one unit..

Why must one do it several times? Quality product not.

Yeah it would seem that way, having to reset multiple times.. But I did it as I've had other electronics that only worked after being reset multiple times...

Ahh, blissful satisfaction.

If anyone has ever wondered, this is what is inside a Charge 3. Note the 71mAh battery... probably why they refused to increase the screen time.. lol. my bluetooth earbuds have a better battery that this, in a smaller area. There is from the left, the sensor casing, the sensors, the main board (slightly damaged as I used precision pliars to just extract it with extreme detailed precaution.. NOT, the touch screen (the glass cover sadly did not survive being smashed with a hammer, though it was rather tough glass if there is one thing to say.. and the laughable battery.

So there you have it, your curiosity has been satiated. and I feel as if a job well done, upgrading my Charge 3 to .. well, it's still in the same state as it was... dead.. But whew, that felt good...

Yeah, that's about where I am... Except mine does still charge just fine.. Just can't get any displays to come up....  About ready to join our fellow a charge 3 owner is checking out how sturdy it is... As I'm sure I won't get in taken care of...

It certainly is not made to be repaired without specific tools. You'd need a heat gun to remove the glass, which I don't have, and then a specific tool to remove the impossible small screws, if you ever had any intention of putting it back together.. again, which I did not.

Trying to actually dismantle it physically, it's an impossible task, the first part to come off was the sensor casing. and the screen refused to crack till I availed myself of of a rather hefty hammer. Then I was able to remove it and peel out the innards. None remained intact, of course, but I did keep the battery for posterity.

And to be honest, the device is nothing more than a money making exercise for fitbit to funnel funds into their more expensive devices. Once sold, as witnessed on these very forums, at best, if under warranty you get a replacement.. if not, a 25% discount on a new one. But any feature requests, updates or changes, are completely ignored for over a year, ensuring that when the device ultimately does die, you're out of luck with warranty.

If you do get a replacement, you will only to have the same issues repeat. As I said in a thread of mine that was deleted recently, I'd rather cut my own arm off than wear another one of these things. My phone can check my heart rate (verified by manually testing my own rate counting beats for 60 seconds) which is better than the charge 3 which always had it at a higher rate.

My phone also has a pedometer, which accurately counts steps and doesn't tell me I've somehow walked 150 steps just getting out of bed.

It has a gps so it can track my routes when walking or running, and most importantly, the screen STAYS ON!

It also has a clock, which tells me the time of the day, the date, the day of the week.. and I can install any clock I desire, not one of 12 that are so limited as to be pointless.

It can track my sleep, not as accurately as monitoring my heart rate, but by how much I move during the night.. however, the charge 3 constantly told me "Sleep not tracked" anyway, so I'm actually in a better position with my phone.

It can accurately track elevation, so I do not amazingly appear to have climbed an entire stair case whilst walking down a straight road - which is good considering as I walked upon a stair, I saw a man who wasn't there... he wasn't there again today, oh how I wish he'd go away.. just replace 'man' with 'fitbit' and you get the idea.

I only bought this as I thought a health monitor slash watch worn on my wrist would have been a good idea. It had been advertised everywhere, and I thought it must be a decent device. Oh how wrong I was.

Ahh well, est quod est, $140 down the tube, for some rich person to have new features on his much more expensive device, after he quaffs his brandy and puts out his cigar.

And I'm better off, as now that google has bought fitbit, I am not going to be giving them any more of my personal details to add to the plethora of things they gather over time to build a profile of an individual.

And seeing just what is inside this thing? It is in no way worth the price I paid. Absolutely not. I've had cheap tablets from china that have more inside that do more and better, and cost a fraction of the price.

It's all in the name..

A name that has now been bought by google.

Yeah, I'm sure mine will be just outside the warranty period.. If so, then I guess it will be my last Fitbit purchase for the same reasons you mentioned wrecche!!
