Does Charge 5 have an altimeter or some other way to count floors climbed? I bought the Luxe without fully investigating all the specs and want to make sure.

I'm not upset. I researched before ordering and knew it wasn't going to be on the Charge 5 and I don't miss it. The Charge 4 constantly over-counted flights and I never trusted the numbers it gave. I gave up even looking at them and couldn't have cared less about whether I hit my target or not. Steps, active zone minutes, exercise tracking are way, way more important to me than climbing stairs.
There are far more positives to the 5 than negatives; being able to see the screen in daylight, colour, responsive screen, mapping accurately (which the 4 never managed), decent battery life and the prospect of the daily readiness score when it's available are all far more important to me than counting 68 flights when I've done 20.
@nihahi not sure you've seen this, but the Terms of Service for posting on the forums, Section 5 - click to read. Moderators do have the ability to remove, edit, merge or move these posts and when we join, we agree to those terms.
@Annie-Charge3 the altimeter is only used for counting stairs, and this 10 feet gain needs to happen within a short time period.
Altitude during a hike, run, walk is monitored by GPS and not by the changes in air pressure. So keep on hiking.
I am happy that I've read this topic. I have almost bought Charge 5 as I could get it with 20% discount.
So I will stay with my old Charge 2 - I have already replaced it's scratched display once but apart of that it is still OK. And I enjoy the floors' tracking feature, it motivates me to take stairs and not to use elevators so often! And there are also badges based on how much you've climbed.
Let's hope Charge 6 will reintroduce this feature!
This is horrible. Base feature removed? I never thought for one second that or steps or heart rate would ever be TAKEN OUT? I just wasted $175. Long time customer leaving. Amazing.
I’m really glad you read it first too and saved yourself the trouble.
The Charge 4 still has an altimeter and it’s quite nice. At least here they’ve reduced the price because of the Charge 5’s arrival.
That might be worth looking into as a stopgap if anything terrible happens to your 2…
Thanks to everyone for the info regarding the missing Altimeter/stair counter. Was going to upgrade from my Charge 3 to the Charge 5 but the missing Altimeter is a biggie for me. Maybe on the Charge 6 Fitbit will have learned from their mistake and add the Altimeter back in 🤞.
My Charge 3 is slowly dying, and I hoped to replace it with a 4. Now I see Fitbit is no longer selling the 4, and I will have to go with a 5. Darn! I may start looking at another brand of tracker.
I’m with you, will wait and see what the Charge 6 brings, hopefully Fitbit will have wised up 🤞
It looks like Amazon is still selling the Charge 4. If that's the device that you want, I wouldn't wait to order it.

So, if I understand correctly, my new Fitbit 5 will NEVER count floors? Is this correct? Why does it have the floors icon on the main page? If this is true, perhaps I should return my new 5. Your thoughts?
I don’t understand why the new product “upgrade”, which I just got, is inferior to the 4. I can’t believe it doesn’t have an altimeter. I may have to get another product, I need the count of flights for both hiking and golfing. Very disappointing indeed.
Makes you wonder how many people are going to back off from buying the Charge 5 due to Fitbit's stupidity. I wonder if Fitbit even polled anyone to get a reaction about removing the altimeter/stair tracker or did somebody not like it and just decided “we” didn’t need it and removed it?
Not well thought out at all…agree!
Oh.. it's sad to know that it cannot count stairs.
Hi @temesvar the Charge 4 has an altimeter, so it counted stairs. The Luxe doesn't have an altimeter. There is no Charge 4 Luxe. Main thing is you love your Charge 5!
