CZharge 5 device lifecycle expectations

i purchased a brand new Charge 5 less than two years ago .. all was going swimmingly.. until this morning .. when the logo started to flash on screen, then upon connection to the charger, the screen went black and has stayed so.   a few minutes on the phone with very helpful FB Customer Care staff no remedy to the condition after which i was sent an email giving me a discount to buy a new one.

that's the history - here is the question.. this is two different FB devices in a row which have conked around the two year mark.. so as i asked a second FB agent - why would i buy another one ? how long should i expect a new device to last ? and is the Company credo as obvious as it seems - buy new, after 2 years, its disposable - so just buy another ?

i attempted to connect with a sales/marketing team - i was told there isn't one.. so in spite of a generous discount offer on a new one, i remain uncertain why i would buy a new device if all i can expect is 2 years..

anyone have advice or a shared experience for me ? or, frankly, have i just read the company credo and situation correctly ?

Hi. I had a Charge 5 that just died after a few months. It was replaced no problem. Now the replacement has done the same thing 10 months later and Fitbit refuse to do anything about it. Not even offered a voucher against a new purchase.

I definately wouldny buy a Fitbit again as I would like a product that lasts longer than a year for the prices they charge. I wont recommend this product to anyone . Very sad as I raved about fitbit prior to my Charge 5. My Charge 2 was a far better quality.

I see numerous complaints about the Charge 5 not holding charge for more than a few hours as it reaches a year old. Seems to be a latent problem. So two years on your watch seems like a bonus.

Wow, you got 2 years?  My first Charge 5 didn't make a year, and it's replacement has just died after about 6 months.

If they don't die, they kill them by software.  Get used to it.

I'm having exactly the same problem, but it hasn't even been a yr and a half since I bought mine.  So frustrating!!!

Thank you to everyone who has replied to my post. I guess I now feel lucky that it actually almost lasted two years!! I hope somebody from Google/Fitbit is reading these posts since I doubt very much. This is how they want their customers feeling about their product. I certainly would not be.

Again, thank you so Responding into my post.
