My IPhone 12 mini keeps asking me to turn on sync in background for my charge 5. I have this set up I believe!! Done everything that the instructions say.

keeps asking.

I have to manually update by pulling down the sync when I go into the app.

Hello again @herbiesteve

Yes, pulling down on the screen to get the figures to update is normal for me as well. There used to be an “all day sync” feature but it was removed several updates ago on the Fitbit App. Here is the reason from Fitbit:

"To improve your experience with notifications, syncing, and firmware updates, we removed the option to turn off all-day sync from the Fitbit app. When your phone is near your Fitbit device with Bluetooth turned on, it periodically syncs with the Fitbit app to update your stats and download available firmware updates. More frequent syncing rarely, if ever, noticeably decreases your device’s battery life"

So, like you, I find myself swiping down immediately on my Fitbit App to sync my data because when I open my Fitbit app I want to see my recent data right away.  It will indeed sync on its own if I don’t swipe down but it might be a a few short mins until it does so.

😃 I hope that answers your question. I’m happy to see the pop up messages you were receiving have stopped as well. Do you feel I have helped answer your question resolve the issue? Keep me posted

Hello @herbiesteve

It sounds like your background app refresh is disabled. Let’s check… Tap on your iPhone Settings, then tap General then Background App Refresh. Look to ensure the Fitbit setting to On.

😃Let me know how it goes

Hello again @herbiesteve

Try this to see if it helps: On your iPhone tap on settings. Scroll down and tap on Privacy. Tap on Location Services > Fitbit > Always.

I believe I finally figured it out…. Open your Fitbit App, tap profile picture then scroll all the way down an tap notifications. Make sure your Force Quit Reminders is disabled or enabled (whichever ever you choose). It reminds you to keep running Fitbit App in the background

😃

Ok , this is enabled. What does that even mean?

if it’s on I get a reminder to let the Fitbit app remain open in the background? Not logical if what it really means is “open app and sync manually”?

Anyway, thanks, but I’m still not sure if my Fitbit is able to sync in the background? 🤣🤣

@herbiesteve - I have one more thing to add. After you have followed @SunsetRunner‘s instructions, then do is this:

  • Restart your Charge 5. Instructions are here.
  • Close the Fitbit app on your iPhone by swiping up.
  • Power the iPhone off. Wait 10 - 15 seconds then power it back on.

This should “set” all the changes you specified.

All the above was already in place. All I did was turn off the “force quit reminders” which we all agree is a weird thing anyway?
thanks for your interest and I have reset the Fitbit as instructions say. I’ll see what happens over today.

when I open the app, I have to pull down on the screen to get the figures to update. Is this normal??
