I bought a brand new Charge 5 and can’t get the ECG to work. No matter what I do, it’s the same “can’t find phone” I’ve been troughing through the forums for hours trying to find an answer, but to no avail. Yes, I am in a country that supports this feature (UK) I have an iPhone with iOS 16.5.1. The app is fully updated.
I have done the following (not in this order) with no solution:
- uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app multiple times
- uninstalled the ecg app itself (took AGES to get it to uninstall, took AGES to download again, two hours)
- unsync and resync bluetooth
- factory reset the device and went through set up, twice
- turned the permissions on and off
- turned notifications on and off (on phone settings, in the Fitbit app)
- checked the sharing of notifications is enabled via Bluetooth settings
- checked settings app permissions for Fitbit
- cleared the fitbit app cache
- turned my phone on and off
At a loss with what to do besides get a refund at this point. I’m so tired.

Hi, welcome back to the Community forums, @Verytired.
I appreciate all the information that you've shared about the difficulty you're experiencing with your Charge 5 and the troubleshooting steps that you already tried.
Could you please confirm if you've experienced any issue at all to sync any of your data to your Fitbit app? Or let me know if this is happening only with the ECG feature.

Nope, just the ECG I’m having issues with.
Sleep, Notifications, steps, location, active zone, calories, EDA, all sync perfectly fine.

I’m experiencing exactly the same issues. I was already disgruntled having to set up a gmail account in order to operate it and now one of the key features that convinced me buying the device doesn’t seem function. I’m returning the thing.
