Charge 5 Exercise Mode Icon doesn't work

I had a new charge 5.  The Exercise mode didn't work.  Called Tech Support and they showed me the RESTART and the button on the charger to press 3 times.  That all failed, so they had me return the Charge 5 and sent me a new one.  Got the new one yesterday and the SAME issue.  The exercise icon is there, when you tap twice on the tracker it goes back to the Clock Face.  You cannot swipe left or right on the tracker exercise icon...can not select the 3 exercise functions I set up.....walk, elliptical, treadmill.  What am I doing wrong?  It has to be some kind of software issue, as I'm sure 2 Charge 5's can't be faulty?

@cynflood    I'd like to add to @Wibby's advice.  Double tapping is the shortcut to go back to the clock screen.   This helps decrease the swiping.  So when you swipe to your Exercise icon > swipe up to choose from among your shortcuts > tap once to select that exercise.  You will see the Start icon and a tiny "^" at the bottom of the screen.  Swipe up on the "^" before you start to see the specific settings for that exercise -- goal, heart zone notifications, use GPS, etc.  Swipe down once ot get to the Start screen again.

Funny that the Support tech didn't know that the double tap is the shortcut back to the clock.  It would have saved you a lot of aggravation.

Have you tried tapping once on them?  Tapping twice anywhere sends you back to the main screen.

I just checked on mine and if I tap once on an exercise, the start button appears, but if I tap twice, it goes back to the clock.

It might help...

Yes, tapping once does NOTHING. So very very frustrating.

Thanks for replying though.

I just had one more thought.  When you go to Exercise, can you see your shortcuts?  Like when I go to mine, it looks like this and I swipe up from the bottom of the screen to select a different one:

Does yours look the same, or is just the Exercise icon?   If the shortcuts aren't showing on your tracker, it might be worth going back into the App on your phone, turning on Bluetooth, clicking your profile picture at the top of the Today page.  Then Charge 5. Then scrolling down to Exercise Shortcuts.  Make sure the ones you want are there.  Then sync again.  They might turn up on your tracker then.  A single tap should then work to select them, as we were saying before.

If your screen already starts showing the shortcuts when you go to Exercise like mine does, but a single tap doesn't work, then it sounds like a problem I don't know the answer to...

Your comments helped my resolve my issue.
Thank you.

However, my shortcuts are not below my Exercise Icon.
I have to swipe to the side of my clock face to see the Exercise shortcuts.
they are there.

Your comments were very helpful!

When all else fails, read the Charge 5 manual.
