Charge 5: Short Battery Life

It’s happening very often and it is frustrating. My Charge 5 just randomly turns off even if it is fully charged, and the only way to turn it back on is connecting to the charger which is very inconvenient if you don't have it on you.

I've done everything everyone has suggested it does not work. I'll preserve with the turning off for now and when it doesn't come back on then I'll throw it in the bin and will not purchase another Fitbit ever!

THIS IS THE INTENTION BEHIND ALL OF THIS BTW UPGRADE TO ANOTHER ONE ...NO THANK YOU! FITBIT OR GOOGLE OR WHOEVER IS AT FAULT YOUR SERVICES ARE ABSOLUTELY CRAP!

FYI - quick update after my previous post regarding success after changing the clock face for my fitbit charge 5. It's been twelve days since I made the change, and I haven't experienced the issue of the device turning off. Will continue to monitor, but this is the longest I've gone over the past few months without the issue happening. Remaining optimistic. I don't think it matters but I changed the clock face from "Continuum" to "Slashed".

I've just changed my clock face to Slashed and it crashed my fitbit 😡.
I'll reset it and let you know how I get on. I am charging it everyday and
that's helping - although I lose 15% charge overnight!

I have been using Fitbit for years now but this issue where my charge 5 turns off randomly is about to send me to Apple.

Update: 27 days after changing clock face. It’s unexpectedly turned off only once (about a week ago). That’s a definite improvement for me, as it had been doing it every week or so. Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely moving to another platform/product, but this improvement buys me more time so I don’t have to rush and can shop around for deals. Good luck everyone.

No. Fitbit is not persuading or forcing any consumer with their products to
keep upgrading. It's mainly from the watch. Afterall, I bought the watch on
May 09, 2022.

It is possible that there is a problem with the watch. Do you overcharge
the battery? Do you charge it more than regularly, or do you allow the
watch's battery to always die? I recommend that you allow the battery to
reach 30%, then charge it fully. Also try restarting the watch with the
charger. Here's the link for instructions,

https://help.fitbit.com/manuals/charge_5/Content/manuals/Topics/Update,%20Restart,%20and%20Erase/Res...

If any of these don't work, then I suggest you hand your watch over to the
Fitbit Repair Station nearby. Thank You.

I've always charged my fitbit once it gets to around 30% and then only to between 90 and 100% depending on how long I have to charge it and it's never left overnight.  It loses at least 15% overnight and I'm charging  it every day at the moment as if it gets down to 70% it will die.  🙄

It’s happening to mine too. I just charged it yesterday but it’s dead now.

Started happening with mine yesterday - recharged last night, off the charger, today unresponsive and the time shown is about when it was taken off the charger yesterday.

Firmware is 57.20001.194.91.

13 months old.

I've changed to a competitor's product.

Hi
No I don't overcharge the battery I am really careful having had two
fitbits previously and always had a problem with the batteries dying. I
don't let it run out of charge either. Unfortunately my fitbit gets to 70%
and then switches off and can only be switched back on usong the charger.
Ive bought extra cables now so i can charge it at work too as it is losing
20% of the battery overnight now.

Mine turns off when the alarm goes off, when the timer goes off, in the middle of a workout, in the middle of the night, in fact in the middle of any setting on the Fitbit. It doesn't matter what percentage battery it is !!! Absolutely frustrating and pointless now on my arm !

Great...now i have joined the Fitbit Charge 5 random shut down club.  I have had it for less than 6 months, (I bought it new but from eBay, so no warranty for me).  It was working fine at the gym and then i got home and I don't know when it shut down.  This morning I put it on the charger and it showed 1%, then jumped to 49% and within 5 minutes it was at 99%.  I have changed the clock face...lets see what that does.  Fingers Crossed!

Mine seems to “go black” every time it syncs to my phone. When I plug it into the charger it may still have 90% battery life left. When I called customer service, I got the plug it in and restart answer. I too believe it is a software problem. My fix for now is to turn the Bluetooth off my phone so that it doesn’t sync.  When I noticed the battery is low, usually in the red zone, I sync my phone and plug in the charger at the same time. It’s about every two or three days. I have had my Charge 5 since 2020. Never had problems until the last couple months. Waiting for Google to do another software update with a fix.
