I've had my Charge 5 for 16 months. In that time, It's worked flawlessly, and I only had to charge it once a week. Suddenly this week, it goes from 100% to 0% and shutting off in less than an hour. When I put it on the charger, it shows 2% battery. I've tried resetting it (using the charger) at least 5 different times; it doesn't help. I don't have any extra stuff turned on (like the GPS), so I don't know what else can be shut off. It didn't get submerged, only splashed on a little bit while washing my hands. I see on this community forum that a LOT of people are having the same problem with draining the battery. What caused it, and how can I fix it without buying a new Fitbit?

I’m having the same issue. Had mine for over a year as well. It worked fine until a few days ago. Now it won’t hold a charge at all, dies immediately after removing it from the charger.

I am having the same issue too, I've done the reset with the charging cable but hasn't helped at all. I can't even get it to charge up, I'm very disappointed as its only just over a year old.

I am having exact change issue, have repeatedly restarted it, am not using extras like GPS and first was told my customer service to submit a copy of my receipt (I did) and that email would be following up in a few hours. When I checked back 12 hours later, a different customer service rep wanted me to do all of the trouble shooting again and gave me a case number. I'm beyond disappointed and have gone back to wearing my old charge 2 (which at least works for my minimal needs.) I will try restarting it again for the 4th time in 24 hours and we'll see how long it takes for the battery to drain. Just horribly disappointed. The charge is my 3rd fitbit and up to now I've been very happy.

I experienced the same issue tonight. It was charged to 100% less than 12 hours ago and now in the middle of the night it's suddenly empty... I bought mine one month ago

Yes I’m having the same issue with excessive battery drain and mine has a blacked out face as well I successfully restarted it a couple weeks ago but it was only for a few days. So now I don’t know what time it is and have to charge it daily
this is a replacement charge 5 as I had band issues with the last one. But I’m quickly becoming skeptical of the products and I first joined in 2015 with a charge HR
please help

I had the battery drain problem before the 12 month warranty was up. I received a replacement Charge 5 and Band. I am selling these on eBay for $65 plus shipping. Check it out. Item # 266215554120

I guess the secret was getting out of chat and picking up the phone. I called this morning, gave the gentleman my case number and within 5 minutes had an email with replacement instructions and my replacement is on the way. I don't know if I just lucked out with the rep or if I should have just called to begin with. But I'm very pleased now and cannot wait for it to arrive. When it was working, it was awesome. I've been using Fitbits since (I think) 2015 with the Charge HR model and have upgraded a couple of times since. I was hoping I would get a survey after the phone call and sadly I did not but the rep was terrific. He read through the rest of the reps' notes (I'm guessing) and then checked a couple of things and then told me I would receive email giving me the option of a free replacement of the Charge 5 or 50 percent off a different model.
I would call them. They will probably have you go through some trouble shooting steps (turning off the GPS, turning off the constant display if applicable, restarting it from the charging cable, etc.) but after I went through 3 reps on chat, I was able to get it resolved immediately on the phone and a replacement is on the way. Hope it works out!

Even if it's out of warranty? My Charge 5 is 17 months old. I don't have GPS or display constantly on, and have already done the reset from the charging cable numerous times. Unless they are willing to give me a new fitbit out of warranty, I don't see the point in contacting them, since I've already done everything they are going to tell me to do.

I bought mine on the 8/11/21 and they have replaced mine so worth contacting them, I just did it through live chat and they tried having me do all the checks again. I told them I had already done what they'd asked and they said they would replace it.

I’ve loved mine but I’m having the same issue. I charged it overnight to 100% and the display was working fine this morning but the battery drained to 7% in less than an hour. Looks like it’s a problem for a lot of folks. I’ll try calling as others seem to have had success.

exact same issue here, 16 months old and stopped working, and all they wanted to offer is a 35% discount. this is ridiculous!

Update: I didn't do anything, just kept charging it back up every night. It suddenly started holding the charge again, and is at 63% after 3 days. I don't know what changed, or why it's working again. I didn't adjust any of the displays or GPS. Just charged it and doing the reset each time (probably did it about a dozen times in total). Didn't download an update to the software. I haven't tried doing the extra stuff (like the EKG or EDA scans). It just didn't like holding the charge for about a week, but seems to be working again.

I’m having the issues. It was working perfectly then it just stopped. Battery will drain right away. I called and my call got disconnected. No help at all. Will try again. It’s very disappointing, I love fitbit but none of my fit last for awhile. I would say almost every 2years I need to get a new one. Not that I want to.
