We have a Charge 5 that's only a few months old. This morning it stopped synching. The screen is black. We have tried the reset and it only flashes the Fitbit logo and does nothing else. Not sure what else to do.

Sorry to say that the source of the issue has not been resolved. It seems that a number of us encountered the non-responsive screen and sudden loss of battery power shortly after installing the latest firmware update.
I recommend that you contact Fitbit support (preferably via chat). They will walk you through several troubleshooting procedures. If none of the procedures restore your device and Support confirms your device is still under warranty, they should send you an email with an offer for a free replacement or a discount on a different device. From what I've read, it seems that if your device is out of warranty, they will send you an email with an offer for a lesser discount on a replacement.

Best AnswerI see that there is a Fitnus band out there that for two of them is cheaper than the fitbit. I'm giving that a try. No more money down the drain on fit bits for me.

Unfortunately not helpful when the reconnecting your device requires you to input a code shown on your device but code can’t be read because the display is black!
this is so very annoying and disappointing.
I feel your pain, I had the same issue.
Yeah I think I may be done with fit bit. I have 5 years of pulse and data though which I like to refer to periodically which I don’t want to lose. I have never upgraded to premium which I assume let’s me download my data. Kinda bummer. I am gonna try to get 4th charge 5. Two came back defective then finally this one after only 6 months is jacked up. Bummer.
Best AnswerI did this and my Fitbit still won’t turn on. I cleaned the back. I wiped it down. I pressed the button 3 times with a second in between. Nothing. Any more ideas?
Yes. Give up entirely on Fitbit because they just don't care.
My fitbit charge 5 did it this morning as well. Not even a year old. Black screen, nothing there at all. I will try to do the reset. But if it doesn't work what will customer service do for all of us having this issue?

Ask for a new one and pray it lasts more than a month or two...
I have 4 that don't work, I am very dissapointed. No more Fitbit for me.
I have 4 charge 5 that don't work "sleeping" in a cage, waiting for ..¿? I don't know what to do with all those devices... Sometimes I charge one of them with hoping it turns on... And nothing... Anyway, that's all for me, never again
The worst is that fitbit support instructions are that you have to try to reconnect, with black screen!! DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND??? It's unbelievable
Best AnswerMine is almost 11months old and just stopped charging. Tried all suggestions on this website, even bought a new charger. Nothing! Very frustrating☹️. Sent an email to support. Waiting for a reply….
Best AnswerYep. Same thing happening here. Putting it on charge works, but the battery is never run down, and that’s no good when it blacks out when I need it to be tracking.
Why is it that newer Fitbits never seem to last more than a few years at most?! More and more now, I’m wondering why I keep spending money on Fitbits that always end up breaking, instead of just switching to Garmin.
Honestly, I feel so let down and frustrated.
Did you get any answer? Mine did the exact same thing. Screen started doing the old TV static display. Tried the restart it acted like it did it but then the screen just static again and then went blank.

Best AnswerTried the button push reset. The charge 5 vibrates but the screen still doesn’t turn on. What is next?
Best AnswerI ended up getting a replacement charge 5 and here I am a few months later and it is also dead. It did some weird vibration making me think that I had a phone call. Then the numbers on the clock face switched places (minuets and hours). It went back to not holding a charge and became really hot, then died.
Not messing around with this garbage anymore, went to Garmin - hope to have better luck this time.
Best AnswerFitbit support refuses to replace even thought I have only had it 3months and many others are experiencing same problem. Time to move away from using fitbit after 10yrs. They no longer care about their loyal
customers.
