We have a Charge 5 that's only a few months old. This morning it stopped synching. The screen is black. We have tried the reset and it only flashes the Fitbit logo and does nothing else. Not sure what else to do.

@jkboldt Hi there, actually I have had my Charge 5 for almost 2 years and since then I have swum with it in a chlorinated pool every week for an hour, and showered with it on almost every day. So they are not all leaky. But I’m getting the impression from the forums that they have changed manufacturer since I got mine. Mine was one of the first of the Charge 5 to be available in Australia.

I never swam with mine and took it off to take a shower, it died the same ignored death as everyone else.

why do you keep posting the same troubleshooting steps. when is fitbit going to do a recall. a thousand dead watches, a thousand failed troubleshooting steps.

Same issue here. Fitbit Charge 5, ran the firmware update and now black screen. I can't get anything to show. Device is charged and I can sync it. 3 button pushes causes a vibrate, but no display whatsoever. Changed the clock face, nothing. Removed some apps, I get a vibrate each time, no display.
Contacted customer service and got offered a 35% discount. No Thanks.
At this point I am so frustrated I am most likely done with Fitbit forever.

I did this restarting process numerous times and it just did not work. By the way, I've had my Charge 5 for less than 24 hours.

Clicked on the love chat and it's says its not available. Watch was working fine over the weekend then when the battery went flat it just won't turn on but oddly was synching to the app. I could see the steps count synching. After following instructions on removing the Bluetooth, now the watch is rendered useless and I can't sync it. Previous model was replaced twice and this one once. I'm so done with the brand

One of the troubleshooting steps is to disconnect the device from your phone/app and then reconnect it. However, if you have NO Display, do NOT disconnect from your phone. You will not be able to reconnect it via bluetooth because you won't be able to see the Code/Pin in order to reconnect it.
This would be for people whose device 'works' (count steps, logs zone minutes, etc.) but the display is black.

Same problem here. The screen of my Charge 5 is blank but the watch still counts my steps and sync. Of course it happened 1 year and 1 month after purchasing it, so the warranty is expired.
Resetting with the charger did not work.

hello,
facing the same issue, the screen turned black suddenly and not reacting. I tried with restart and now it only shows Fitbit logo. No other troubleshooting steps are possible, as my phone does not see the band. Opened ticket with customer support and it asks me to wait 2 days at least. Is there anything i could do to recover my band? It's useless as it is now... Thanks for any other hints...

Hi DavideFitbit, I am having the same problems and none of the advice has helped. Plus it gets extremely hot when leaving it charging for any extended period of time. Please help, completely frustrated.

Our Charge 5 is 3 months old, has failed, and support on the phone was unable to do anything about it. The fitbit 2 lasted for years. This is clearly a manufacturing problem, or the company doesn't want to keep supporting and wants you to move on to newer products. Fail.

Ever since I’ve updated my Charge 5 on Monday…I’ve had a black screen and my battery lasts less than 24 hrs!!! HEADS UP…DON’T update it. I swear they do this intentionally!

Incredible, after three months that users claim that this update is faulty, they really continue pushing this update and brick other devices?😅

Much longer than 3 months I’m afraid. I did my update in July 22, there were some earlier threads, currently deleted by Fitbit as non relevant. I’ve never upgraded my replacement Charge 5 though and it is still running, 9th month coming to an end.

What to do?

They know the firmware update is bricking watches, but they continue to push the update. Then, they try to get you to buy another watch to increase their profits. They purposely destroy your watch to make you buy it again. Can you imagine if Windows, Apple, or Tesla tried this scam?

Same problem. My Fitbit Charge 5 was working until about 3 hours ago. The logo start flashing up on the screen, then it faded and went to black. Tapping the USB button three times doesn’t do anything. Has anyone found another way to solve this issue?
