Charge 5 blank screen

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Randomly starting this morning, my fitbit screen won't display.  It doesn't matter if I double tap it, attach the charging cord, reset it with the 3 button press, or change the clock display.

Yes, my phone says it's syncing and I can change the clock display.  The phone says it's at 100% battery.

Is there anything else to try?  Is the display just dead?  The watch is only about a year and a half old.

I spoke to a representative through the support chat.  They asked me who I purchased my fitbit from (Amazon) and that they would get back to me in an hour or so via email to let me know if I had any warranty options available.

It's weird because the Fitbit app is still currently displaying my heart rate, everything still seems to connect on the software end, but the physical display just won't turn on no matter what I do.  The customer service rep acknowledged that I had tried all the things he would have suggested already, and he didn't have anything else to offer except to look into my warranty.  So it's not looking great.

And sorry, I'm not familiar with the fitbit forums.  I accidentally hit the best answer link without realizing what it was gonna do.  There is no answer to this yet.

Researching into this some, I'm finding our for the first time that fitbits have an exceptionally **ahem**ty lifespan.  The life expectancy seems to be about 2 years, and another forum member said that representatives told them that 6 months was a reasonable life expectancy of a fitbit device.  Is that not the biggest joke you've ever heard?  So regardless of whether I have any kind of warranty possibilities I think I just found out not to continue my time or money or attention with anything this company creates from this point on.  I've been curious about the Galaxy watches for a while anyway, hmm...

Mine died this week too- exact same way. The Charge 6 is out now, so it's likely planned obsolescence. If you message support, they'll give you a discount to repurchase it. Great deal right?

Good to know.  Better it's a mistake than intentional.

By the way, after resetting it a gazillion times, trying it with different chargers, etc...  I finally got mine functioning again, at least for this moment.  I changed the fitbit charging cable I was using. 😐  I have no idea why this is what finally kicked it into functioning again, but the second I tried connecting it to a different charging cable and resetting it again, for some reason it likes this cable better and the screen came back on.  If I go back to the other cable it gets wonky again.  I have no idea how to explain that, but at least something for people to try if they have another charging cable laying around?

I’m having the same problem, my Fitbit was a gift in April so only coming up for 8 months old.
I was planning on letting it go flat and then recharging to see if that kicked it into action? Having read your solution with a different charger I might try that first.

I hope everyone gets theirs sorted out.
