A few weeks ago I have switched from Charge 2 to Charge 5 because of the temperature feature... But now I'm very dissapointed because there isnt any temperature to find. Also it is not available in the health metrics, and it says I need Premium. But I don't want to pay for premium!!! I Just want it tot work as described in the specs.

If Is knew this before, I wouldnt purchase it.

Just very dissapointed...

I have never contacted customer service. It seems to be working again now
though so I can't complain.

It's a small world, I've never been to Australia (I'm in US) but my parents
were married in Australia!

I have the Charge 5 as well.  Exact same issue.  All health metrics appear excep skin temp data.  No data.

I chatted with Fitbit support but they had no trouble shooting suggestions other than what I have already tried.  Also wondering if it's defective.

May return.

I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue. I have been keeping the FitBit app updated and I haven't had the issue in a while. I have had an issue where the breathing rate does not show up. If it doesn't show up in the morning when I sync my Charge 5 I won't get it that day no matter what I do. If I restart my phone the day it doesn't show up I always get a reading the following day.

It seems that the FitBit app works better if you restart your phone on a regular basis. Perhaps it has some issues that accumulate over time and a restart of the phone fixes them for a while.

Thanks for the reply.

I have had the Fitbit for over 2 weeks now. Have never gotten data for skin
temperature. Everything else in Heath Metrics works fine; Breathing rate,
Heart Rate Variability, Oxygen, and resting heart rate.

Wife got her Fitbit around the same time and she gets skin temp readings.
Same Fitbit model, same phone model, same updates.

Have gone thru many trouble shooting steps (those I found and those
suggested by Support).

I think it may be defective. Will be returning soon if I cannot find a fix
and get a replacement. (Bought it at Costco so no problem with return.)

@HaulinAuss — how long did it take for your wife to get readings?  For me it took about a week.

Remember what is being reported is the difference between your ‘base temp’ — calculated over ‘up to 30 days’ when sleeping — and your temp while sleeping last night.  The kind of readings you get when it is working  are like the attached.

My wife got her Fitbit Charge 5 about three weeks ago. She added the
Health Metrics display to her phone yesterday and this morning she had a
"variations in nightly skin temp" reading for the night. Me, on the other
hand, added Health Metrics about 2 weeks ago but have never had a skin temp
entry. Says "No data" for both weeks and for the day.

No really a biggie but it bugs me that the Fitbit isn't working correctly.
Also wonder what else may be not working correctly.

Fitbit says you should start getting readings after wearing to bed for three nights.  If you’ve been getting sleep scores every night over the past two weeks, you should be getting temp readings by now. If you haven’t done so already, you should try restarting the CH5, and also removing the CH5 from your account and then adding it back as a new device.  If that doesn’t work, I would take it back to where you bought it and exchange since you are in the return window.

If it's not working right you should get it exchanged for another one while you still can. You paid the money, you're entitled to a device where everything works. Since your wife's device is working correctly you know what you should be getting. They are pretty complex little devices and I'm sure it's hard to insure that every one of them is 100% coming out of the factory.

Update.   It is now working!  After "17" days I got the first skin temp reading and have now had the readings for 3 days in a row.   Go figure 🙂
