A few weeks ago I have switched from Charge 2 to Charge 5 because of the temperature feature... But now I'm very dissapointed because there isnt any temperature to find. Also it is not available in the health metrics, and it says I need Premium. But I don't want to pay for premium!!! I Just want it tot work as described in the specs.

If Is knew this before, I wouldnt purchase it.

Just very dissapointed...

@EriNi Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the detailed information shared.

I see where your disappointment is coming from.

Take into consideration that the Health Metrics tile is available with Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Charge 5, Fitbit Inspire 2, Fitbit Luxe, Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 2, and Fitbit Versa 3. To see historical data and your personal range for each metric, upgrade to Fitbit Premium.

Basic information about these metrics can be seen without a Premium subscription in the Fitbit app or on your Fitbit device. Since you purchased a Charge 5 tracker, note that you have a 6 month Premium trial that you can cancel anytime before it expires to avoid charges.

Last but not least, get in touch with our Support team by checking this page.

Hope this helps.

Alright, so how do i get the health metrics tile on my Fitbit app?

The Health Metrics tile should automatically be on your Fitbit App (it is on mine).  When you talk about temperature, do you mean skin temperature or core temperature?

On the Charge 5 it only measures the skin temperature change during the night, and only displays it as -1degree or +1 degree.  It doesn't tell you what the exact temperature is.

I tapped for extra information on this and it seems like the Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 (and other unnamed ones) also have an option for you to take your own temperature with a thermometer and then log it manually on the app to follow your trends. I do this with weight, as I have my own scales, and log that manually.

I hope that helps a bit, although it may mean that Fitbits don't perform the functions that you're looking for.

The Health Metrics Tile is not on my Fitbit app, It seems like I can only download it (discover-healthmetrics) if I take Premium, but I dont want Premium.

In the specs they said that it tracks skin temperature each night. I wear it 24/7 for a few weeks now but nowhere I can find skin temperature.

My Fitbit app is updated, also I restarted my phone. Still no Health Metrics Tile......

So the Fitbit Charge 5 WITH skin temperature tracking, tracks NO skin temperature at all....

And @Wibby if I get it right IF I get the skin temperature tile, it shows NO temperature?

Thanks anyway for the advice

Hello again,

Did you check if your country is eligible for the Health Metrics app?  I'm sure mine came automatically and I've never had premium.  I found a list of the countries here (if you scroll down the page):

SpO2, Heart Rate Variability | Fitbit Technology

I also took a screenshot of what I can see on mine. Premium will just give a longer period of results to compare (30 days I think).  You might be hoping for something that it doesn't actually do.  I can't imagine it would be worth paying for Premium to see 30 days of this.

Good luck!

Thanks @Wibby !

I'm in the Netherlands so the temperature tile should be available.

Anyone any idea how to get this tile on my Fitbit app?

@EriNi Thank you for getting back and performing the troubleshooting advised.

May I know if you have tried the following to add the Health Metrics tile to your app? Since you're located in Netherlands, it should be available to you.

  1. On the Today tab

    , tap Edit.
  2. To add a stat tile, swipe down and find the stat you want to add

tap Add. To hide a stat tile, tap the X icon on the stat you want to remove.
  3. Tap Done.

Also, when you mentioned that even when there is a tile, it won't display Skin temperature. Could you attach a screenshot of what you see when the Health Metrics tile is showing on your app?

Hope this helps.

In the meantime i have deleted the fitbit app and reinstalled it. Unfortunately there is still no temperature tile to find.

So if you want to buy the charge 5 because of the temperature, don't do it, because its not there.

As said before; In the specs they said that it tracks skin temperature each night. I wear it 24/7 for over a month now but nowhere I can find skin temperature.

My Fitbit app is updated, also I restarted my phone. Still no Health Metrics Tile......

So the Fitbit Charge 5 WITH skin temperature tracking, tracks NO skin temperature at all....

So still very disappointed...

Have you been in touch with Fitbit support directly?  Have you tried the  link @SilviaFitbit gave you to start a chat with them?

I've just copied a link to the support for the Netherlands.  This page is in English but you can change the language if you scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Good information.  Just got the Charge 5 and my skin temperature didn't appear.  Then the next day it showed 0.0 F.  I was concerned that maybe the Charge 5 was malfunctioning but now I understand that the measurement shown is the difference between your skin temperature measured the previous sleep vs your skin temperature measured during your latest sleep making 0.0 a good number. Thanks for explaining that.

I have a premium membership but still do not see the skin temperature change in Health statistics. I wear my Charge 5 all the time except when charging and always wear to sleep. Why isn’t this data point available?

@LeoC-5205 -- when you tap Health Metrics on your Today screen what metrics does it show?  It should look something like this:

I see all the metrics except skin temperature. Do you have the same issue? Trying to learn if my Charge 5 is defective. Also have difficulty syncing on a regular basis.

Best Answer

I didn't handle attaching screenshot but what I have Health Metrics page is ONLY  Resting heart rate. 😞
Also have a new Charge 5, two days of usage.

@LeoC-5205 — i have it. It is the third metric on the list of the screen shot I posted.  @Koreiba — It may take a week or so to appear.  The skin temp metric is showing the difference of skin temp last night from your baseline skin temp. It takes several nights to establish your baseline. The app says that baseline takes into account up to the last 30 days, but it didn’t take that long before I got my first reading.

You can edit what appears on the screen of the Fitbit app. Is it possible
that you have removed skin from the screen in the app? When you open the
app there is an Edit button next to "Today" in the upper right corner. You
can add and remove things or move them around after tapping this button.
For example I removed "Menstrual Health" from mine because I'm not a woman.

Also if you click your picture in the upper left corner of the main screen,
then click on your Charge 5 then click Gallery and scroll down to My Apps
and make sure SPO2 is installed on your Charge 5 by clicking the little
arrow on the right hand side. If it is installed it will show the option to
Uninstall.

Hope this helps.
